PRECONSTRUCTION ESTIMATOR
JOB SUMMARY
The Preconstruction Estimator has a key role in Cooper Steel's preconstruction process, responsible for accurately projecting the realistic costs of a job while keeping costs low, maximizing profits, and maintaining strong business integrity. Analytical and detail-oriented by nature, Preconstruction Estimators must be comfortable communicating with customers, collaborating with internal teams, and multitasking.
JOB POSTING
At Cooper Steel, we aim to stand as the steel industry's ultimate leader by elevating safety, quality, and performance to new heights. To build and stand strong, we need a strong foundation. That's where you come in. We're looking for a Preconstruction Estimator who's ready to join our unmatched preconstruction team to take on new challenges, deliver with precision, and grow.
Founded in 1960, Cooper Steel is a national leader in steel, helping to set and exceed the standard for fabrication, erection, project management, detailing, and estimating. Family owned and operated from day one, our mission, vision, and values continue to guide our principles as a business that treats its team and customers as if they are family, too.
So if you're ready to build with us, we're looking for someone:
  • With 2-5 years of experience in preconstruction estimating and a bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Fluent and comfortable with Microsoft Excel and adept to learning new software quickly
  • Analytical and wired to problem-solve
  • Communication-driven, with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team or independently
  • Interested in construction, preferably with previous construction experience
  • Detail-oriented and exceptional in time management, able to multitask, maintain organization, and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Flexible and unafraid to ask questions or share ideas

You'll love this role if you're excited to:
  • Analyze costs and budgets for construction projects
  • Provide accurate estimates for materials, labor, and equipment
  • Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and coordinators to develop project plans and prepare and submit bids and proposals
  • Review and analyze project specifications and drawings
  • Identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors

Now that you've heard about the role, here's how we invest in you:
  • Competitive salary
  • 401(k) with a 6% match
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits, with company-provided optional wellness discount for medical benefits
  • 9 company-paid holidays
  • Cellphone reimbursements and office gym access
  • Company-paid and voluntary life insurance
  • Company-paid long-term disability and voluntary short-term disability insurance
  • Based in our beautiful Nashville office on the iconic Music Row, with occasional travel and events
  • Company issued office equipment (laptop, keyboard, mouse)
  • An unbeatable company culture and work environment!

Our team is tough as nails and relentless in the pursuit of excellence. A force to be reckoned with, Cooper Steel employees are fueled by challenge and unwavering in their support for each other and our community. Are you the one we're looking for? Apply today to find out!
