Title of Job Position: Children’s Ministry Volunteer and Logistics Coordinator (Part-Time)

Job Description:

The Children’s Ministry Volunteer and Logistics Coordinator is responsible for helping to implement and nurture a vision for Children’s Ministry which develops disciples of Jesus. This includes but is not limited to: empowering and supporting teachers of God’s Word through Biblical Education, supporting the formation of children by leaders in Community Groups, and supporting the leadership for the midweek children’s gathering.

Compensation: This position requires 25-30 hours a week and does not include benefits.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with the vision established by the Next Generation Pastor/Director for Children’s Ministry.
  • Support the core teaching team (during the school year and summer) to instruct children in God’s Word weekly on Sundays.
  • Support the midweek children’s ministry program.
  • Provide support and resourcing necessary for Community Group leaders in nurturing biblical relationships with children in community.
  • Coordinate all childcare needs for Sunday celebration gatherings and all special events.
  • Facilitate Children’s Ministry special events by coordinating these efforts throughout the year (Winter Retreat/ Summer Camp Program/etc.).
  • Communicate effectively the status of Children’s Ministry to all parents and the congregation.
  • Manage children’s resources and ensure proper care of facility used by children.
  • Ensure ongoing child safety through a program that includes background checks, safety policies, procedures, etc.
  • Maintain a process of welcoming, inviting and engaging new children in Children’s Ministry.
  • Function as part of a staff team that has input and ownership into all facets of ministry at YAC.
  • Develop an annual ministry budget for review and manage spending to budget.
  • Establish a Sabbath day and be held accountable to it.
  • Maintain a healthy balance between family life, ministry and other responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Church Info

Church Size: Regular weekly attendance is between 400-500, with roughly 800 calling YAC their church home. York Alliance is the anchor campus in the York Alliance Family of Churches, which is currently four campuses.

Church History: YAC began in 1932 and has remained a significant Kingdom presence in York since that time. After residing at several different locations, the church building has, for the last 60+ years, been on Rathton Rd. on the southern border of the city of York, located between two colleges (Penn State York and York College) and just down the street from the York (Wellspan) Hospital.

Church Vision: YAC's mission is "All of Jesus for the Whole Person to the Whole World." Their vision is to pursue the transformational love of Jesus by building communities that share His love with all people. They believe disciples are those who called to be with Jesus, become like Jesus, and do what Jesus did.

Church Ministry Style: YAC engages community and formation in two primary modes—around a stage and around a table. Sunday gatherings are upbeat and engaging, blending both newer and ancient worship styles and tools. They have biblically rich, conversational style teaching and weekly opportunities to respond to the Spirit of God. Community Groups are the primary vehicle for transformation, meeting weekly in homes around the York community.
