Job description

Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together. We believe in the importance of in-office collaboration and fully intend for the selected candidate for this role to work on site in the specified location(s).

The Enhanced Client Verification team is looking for a senior software engineering to help design, build, and support scalable Java-based web services and modern user interface solutions that enable business-critical integration work. In this role, you’ll lead delivery within a dynamic Agile Scrum environment, partnering across business and technology teams to translate complex needs into reliable, secure, and high-performing enterprise applications. Your work will directly influence the quality, resiliency, and effectiveness of systems that support Schwab’s client experience while helping the team continuously improve how solutions are developed, tested, monitored, and maintained.

This role requires a strong balance of hands-on technical depth, problem solving, decision-making, and leadership.

You’ll guide implementation of new features, support production stability, promote strong engineering practices, and mentor developers through code reviews, quality standards, and practical technical guidance. Success in this role will come from your ability to collaborate across teams, adapt as priorities evolve, use tools such as GitHub Copilot responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle, and bring ownership to solving complex technical challenges in a way that supports both near-term delivery and long-term platform health.

What you have

Required qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 12+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on Java and related frameworks
  • 8+ years of experience using Angular to build dynamic, responsive web applications
  • Extensive experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise web applications, Java-based services, REST APIs, microservices, and front-end/back-end integrations
  • Experience leading software delivery within Agile teams, including translating business requirements into technical solutions and guiding implementation from design through production support
  • Experience using AIDLC from ideation through software development practices, testing, and code review.
  • Strong experience with code quality practices, including code reviews, unit testing, integration testing, test automation, and maintainable software design
  • Strong problem-solving, ownership, communication, and collaboration skills across technical and business partners

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience writing clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient code using Spring Boot
  • Experience optimizing applications for performance, scalability, resiliency, and security
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, version control using Git, and modern software development lifecycle practices
  • Experience creating Splunk queries and developing monitoring dashboards to support observability and production stability
  • Experience with test-driven development and integration testing using Cucumber
  • Experience working with MongoDB and SQL databases
  • Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or other event streaming and messaging platforms
  • Experience using Jira or similar Agile delivery tools
  • Experience providing level-three production support for critical incidents
  • Ability to mentor junior developers, share technical knowledge, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

In addition to the salary range, this role is eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
