VOLUNTEER SERVICES COORDINATOR - FT
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The primary focus of this position is to recruit, train, place, evaluate, retain and recognize the volunteers and activities in support of community service programs within CHEER, Inc. to supplement staff resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develop amp; Maintain Volunteer Program โ Establish, formalize, and oversee all aspects of the volunteer program.
- Assess amp; Fulfill Needs โ Collaborate with department directors to assess volunteer needs and ensure positions are filled.
- Recruit amp; Retain Volunteers โ Actively recruit, engage, and retain volunteers in coordination with the Community Engagement Department with outreach, social media, events, media, and community presentations.
- Manage Volunteer Records โ Maintain up-to-date files, ensuring all volunteers complete necessary paperwork and background checks.
- Provide Orientation amp; Training โ Develop and maintain orientation materials, policies, job descriptions, and training programs to prepare volunteers and support staff working with them.
- Support amp; Monitor Volunteer Engagement โ Ensure volunteers receive guidance, monitor performance, resolve concerns, and foster positive relations between staff and volunteers.
- Recognize amp; Appreciate Volunteers โ Plan and execute recognition efforts, including annual appreciation events.
- Track amp; Report Data โ Maintain an active volunteer database, track service hours, and generate reports as needed.
- Participate in Training amp; Meetings โ Attend relevant workshops and meetings to stay current on best practices.
- Assist with Fundraising amp; Special Events โ Support fundraising initiatives involving volunteers and recognize their contributions.
- Perform Additional Duties โ Contribute to the team effort, including assisting with food delivery when needed.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS amp; ABILITIES
Minimum requirements for this position are:
- Education amp; Experience โ Associate degree in Human Resources, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field, plus two years of supervisory experience (preferably with volunteers), or equivalent experience as a Volunteer Coordinator. Marketing/Public Relations experience required.
- Travel โ Must have a valid driverโs license, and the ability to travel to volunteer sites. Defensive Driving Certification required to operate an agency vehicle, proof of insurance is required to use personal vehicle for work duties.
- Office Work amp; Communication โ Able to sit for extended periods (up to two hours) and effectively interpret, write, and present information to diverse audiences.
- Confidentiality amp; Sensitivity โ Capable of conducting sensitive interviews and maintaining confidentiality.
- Time Management amp; Organization โ Skilled in prioritizing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing projects efficiently.
- Technical Skills โ Proficient in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets) and able to operate office equipment (copier, phone, calculator, printer).
REPORTING: This position reports to the Nutrition Program Director
PRIMARY WORK LOCATION: Some duties and functions will be performed in an office environment although local travel to meetings, programs, and other CHEER locations is required to support programs and services as required in those locations.
WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM โ 4:30 PM with 30 minute mid-day break.
Extended work hours are periodically required to support programs and activities. Must be able to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-Time Non-Exempt (40 hrs./week)
