This role transforms complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for senior leaders, strengthening policy execution and improving operational visibility across Headquarters. The consultant will apply hands-on technical skills with strong communication capabilities to produce dashboards, data cleansing scripts, and stakeholder-ready documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop enterprise-quality dashboards and data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI to support PLCY front office and sub-office leadership.
  • Clean, transform, and integrate datasets from multiple DHS systems; develop repeatable Python or R scripts for data cleansing and transformation.
  • Build process documentation, workflow guides, and PowerPoint walkthroughs for dashboard demos, requirement discussions, and leadership briefings.
  • Collaborate with PLCY stakeholders to collect requirements, refine metrics, validate data sources, and ensure visualizations meet operational and strategic needs.
  • Maintain, enhance, and automate reporting workflows using Power Automate and other O365 tools to streamline recurring reporting cycles.
  • Present technical findings and complex analytical concepts to non-technical audiences in clear and accessible formats.
  • Support development of PLCY analytics standards, governance practices, and repeatable frameworks that enable scalable, decision-ready insights.
  • Build collaborative relationships across PLCY, OHSS, and DHS components to support integrated analytics and mission execution.
What You Will Need
  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DHS "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.
  • Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, public policy, engineering, or a STEM related field.
  • FIVE (5) or more years of experience in data analytics, data visualization, or related technical consulting fields.
  • Experience with Tableau and Power BI, including dashboard design, visual storytelling, and leadership-ready products.
  • Experience with Python, R, or similar languages for data cleansing and transformation.
  • Must be able to go to client site in Anacostia, DC.
What Would Be Nice To Have
  • Familiarity with Power Automate or other cloud-based workflow automation tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and professionally in fast-paced, high-visibility environments.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, including ability to produce polished documentation, stakeholder briefings, and demo materials.
  • Experience working with DHS or other federal agencies, particularly in data-driven or analytics-focused environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud analytics environments (AWS, Azure, Databricks, Palantir).
  • Experience supporting policy offices or strategic planning teams within government.
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data governance frameworks, and performance analytics.
  • Experience developing leadership dashboards, requirements documents, or briefing materials for senior executives.
