Job description

Emergent Works, Inc. breaks cycles of incarceration and poverty by equipping BIPOC individuals impacted by the criminal justice system with the tools to thrive in today’s digital world. Through education, employment, economic mobility, and creativity, we empower our participants to build financial independence, grow personally, and lead within their communities. Our mentorship and workshops promote success in marginalized communities, ensuring their creativity and learning enable them to thrive:

  • TECK supports adults coming home from jail or prison by teaching them digital skills and helping them prepare for jobs.
  • T.RAP helps young people express themselves through music and tech, while learning skills to succeed in life and work.

Searching for a Board member:

Emergent Works is seeking to expand its board and is looking for someone with the skills and passion for the 2026-2027 Treasurer position.

Duties and Leadership Support:

This person will guide and support in collaboration with the Board chair and Executive Director on the following, but not limited to:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Budget Development & Oversight
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Risk Management
  • Program Review & Support
  • Nonprofit Financial Management
  • Audit Coordination
  • Team Leadership & Development

About the Board and Requirements:

Emergent Works currently has a fully functioning board composed of five dedicated volunteers from the global tech and entertainment industries, as well as communications, consulting, marketing, and a global co-working initiative. Board members are collectively required to dedicate a limited number of hours to the development of Emergent Works and to support the Executive Director's leadership.
