Job description

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

This job is for a Full-Time EMT.

  1. Iowa Emergency Medical Technician –Up to date EMT or NREMT certification in the State of Iowa.
  2. AHA HCP CPR required.
  3. PHTLS preferred.
  4. National Registry Certification preferred.
  5. Emergency Vehicle Driving Safety Course preferred.
  6. Clean Driving record- required.

Pay starting at $18.00 per hour with a 1.5% increase per year of experiance.

Full Time Benefits starting 30 days from orientation which include Medical 75% covered by our company on the employee. Voluntary Dental, Vision, Gap Medical, FSA Health Care, FSA Dependant Care, Voluntary Critical Illness, Voluntary Hospital Confienment. Plus 100% company paid Life/AD&D, Long Term Dissability, and Short term Dissability.

Responsibilities/essential functions: The person in this position must be able to perform the following essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

  1. Be prepared to respond in a timely and safe manner to emergent and non-emergent requests.
  2. Critical thinking, scene control, assessment and gaining access to patients.
  3. Provides competent patient care to all patient populations.
  4. Transport and treatment of patients established in protocols per EMS guidelines.
  5. Documents in the medical records and communicates pertinent patient information in a timely and accurate manner.
  6. Attends departmental in-services and staff meetings as required or requested.
  7. Acts in a professional manner.
  8. Operate the secure car, wheelchair and ambulance in accordance with the driving policy.
  9. Participate in staff meetings and continuing education as directed.
  10. Maintain patient records according to policy and procedures.
  11. Acts in a professional manner reflecting the mission, vision and values of CARE Ambulance.
  12. All other duties as assigned.
  13. Regular and reliable attendance is expected.
  14. Turn in appropriate documents (PCRs) prior to leaving duty.
  15. Comply with HIPAA regulations.
  16. Follow infection control policy.
  17. EMTs/Aptitudes required for work of this nature are good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition that would not be adversely affected by frequently having to walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times, in excess of 125 pounds and push up to 50-75 pounds.
