Position Overview

Herdt Consulting is seeking a Java Developer to support theNaval Education and training Command (NETC) in Pensacola, Florida. The primary role focus is on Corporate Enterprise Training Activity Resource Systems (CeTARS) for both schoolhouse and corporate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop application software by coding in Java.
  • Perform unit and functional testing.
  • Design and implement data model objects.
  • Analyze root causes for abnormal system operation.
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies and collaborate with team members to best fulfill client requirements.
  • Perform evaluations and analysis of data to determine feasible solutions and implement solution(s).
  • Define and resolve problems including developing processes and procedures for resolving like problems throughout the enterprise and analyze methods of approach.
  • Provide detailed documentation and feedback for problem resolution.
  • Review, analyze, route, and resolve help requests.
  • Examine existing information system schematics and related supporting software documentation.
  • Identify alternative software solutions.
  • Participate in reviews to determine the completeness and consistency of software requirements.
  • Analyze and develop documentation supporting MPTE TSS program and projects aligned with each functional area as needed.
  • Collect data on software engineering performance during the appropriate phases of development.
  • Utilize current SQL-based products and tools for extraction and reporting of information to support business requirements analysis and development. Products may include TOAD, PL/SQL Developer, Oracle Business Intelligence, or SAP Business Objects reports engine.
  • Conduct legacy and NMCI system evaluations of production installations to assure HW/SW compatibility and maximum effective performance.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, or Computer Science, from an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution or six (6) years of experience.
  • Full lifecycle application development experience using web-based Java EE technologies (JSF, JPA and EJBs) using both traditional waterfall and Agile development methodologies.
  • Active Security+ certification or comparable to comply with DoD Cyber Workforce requirements as highlighted in the education requirements. *If the proper degree through an ABET accredited or CAE designated institution, the certification requirement in not applicable.
  • Experience with Spring, Seam, Struts or other MVC architectures.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle, PL, and SQL.
