Job description

Job Title: Accessioner I - WichitaJob Description

The Accessioner I is responsible for accurately processing laboratory samples and supporting diagnostic testing. In this role, you catalog and organize patient specimens—primarily blood, as well as urine and tissue—so that laboratory professionals can perform timely and accurate analysis for diagnosis and treatment. You work closely with other laboratory staff and departments to ensure that all samples and related clinical information are handled with precision and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and triage all incoming specimens for clinical testing, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and prioritization.
  • Catalog and organize patient specimens such as blood, urine, and tissue to support accurate laboratory analysis.
  • Manage and update clinical information within the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database with a high level of accuracy.
  • Perform internal audits of clinical charts to verify completeness, accuracy, and compliance with laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborate with various laboratory and support departments to ensure testing accuracy and smooth workflow.
  • Follow established laboratory protocols and procedures to maintain sample integrity and data reliability.
  • Meet established turnaround times and deadlines for specimen processing and data entry.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to support overall laboratory operations and quality standards.
Essential Skills

  • 0–2 years of work experience in a laboratory, healthcare, or related environment.

Work Environment

The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, providing a consistent evening shift. The work involves focused computer-based data entry, specimen handling, and coordination with other laboratory professionals in a structured, process-driven setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $19.00/hr.
