*This position requires a regular on-site presence at our campus in Wichita, KS.
KidzUNlimited Assistant I
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to KidzUNlimited Director
Grade I ($12.40-$17.90 Based on experience and qualification)
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Working closely with the KidzUNlimied Director, the KidzUNlimited Assistant I assists with ensuring one-on-one needs are met. Assists with recruiting and training volunteers for the special needs (SN) program. Assists in teaching Bible lessons while monitoring and interacting with the SN children/students. Assists with curriculum activities and providing care.
The incumbent must perform all job duties as outlined in this job description to support ongoing mission of the church while committed in accordance with the Baptist Faith and Message (2000 edition).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Assists with monitoring and interacting with SN children/students. Assists with teaching Bible lessons, curriculum activities, and providing care during the KidzUNlimited ministry hours. (app. 60%)
• Assists the volunteers in the SN program during the weekend services, ensuring the SN children/students, who attend regularly, have their one-on-one volunteer. Fills in as a "one- on-one" as needs arise. (app. 20%)
• Actively recruits and trains volunteers for the SN program. (app. 10%)
• Assists the Director with various special events, as directed, including events where childcare for SN children may be needed. (app. 10%)
These duties are subject to change as church needs and strategies evolve. Employee may be required to perform other duties.
Requirements
EDUCATION/TRAINING• A minimum of a high school diploma and some college courses in education and/or behavioral studies is required.
• Completion of special needs enrichment classes is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in the following areas:
• Working or volunteering in a children's environment.
• Working with special needs children/students.
REQUIRED SKILLS
• Clear communication, coordination and organizational skills.
• Positive temperament, dependability and professionalism.
• Ability to deal courteously with the public.
• Basic computer knowledge and the ability to learn new software programs.
• Basic computer or mobile device competency.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Ability to function independently as well as collaboratively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
• Ability to respond quickly to active situations, including running short distances to ensure child safety when necessary.
• Ability to maintain mobility and physical stamina throughout the workday to actively supervise and engage with children.
• Ability to move between various positions to support children and complete tasks in different environments, including sitting on the floor, kneeling, crouching, bending, and standing up quickly from seated positions.
• Ability to be in motion for long periods of time - walking and standing.
• Clearly communicate verbally with others to exchange information.
• Lift, carry, and move up to 35 pounds.
• Manual dexterity.
• Ability to reach at, below, and above shoulder level.
• Balance and coordination.
• Observe and monitor environment from long distances.

WORKING CONDITIONS
