Job Description:

Job Summary

Responsible for delivering direct patient care according to treatment plans established by occupational therapists. Assists in implementing therapeutic interventions to promote functional independence and safety for diverse patient populations. Supports program development and departmental initiatives under supervision. Provides customer service and ensures adherence to organizational policies and procedures. Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.


Essential Functions

Collaborates with the Occupational Therapist to develop and revise individualized treatment plans and goals.

Implements purposeful therapeutic activities and interventions to enhance patient independence, function, and adjustment to disability.

Designs, fabricates, and instructs in the use of orthotic devices and adaptive equipment, recommending environmental adaptations as needed.

Educates patients and caregivers on therapy techniques, home programs, and safety precautions to support ongoing progress.

Documents treatments, goals, and patient progress accurately and timely in the medical record.

Maintains compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards, completes annual competency requirements, and upholds licensure.

Mentors students, and participates in orientation and training of new staff as needed.

Collaborates with healthcare team members to ensure coordinated care and appropriate discharge planning.

Assists managerial staff with resource assessment, process improvement, and enhancement of rehabilitation services.

Performs other duties as assigned.


Education Requirement

Associates Degree in Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from an ACOTE accredited school or equivalent


Experience Requirement

0-2 years of experience in a healthcare, clinical setting, or a relevant area


An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

All experience must be paid and in the same related field.

Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.

Certifications & Licensures

Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) license in applicable state, Basic Life Support (BLS), Driver's license if assigned to Home Health
