Title: Court Referral Community Service (CRCS) Specialist

Job Classification: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Part Time

Pay Range: $23.00$24.50 per hour

Hours: 25 Hours (3 days) per Week

Location: 1945 S. Hill Street - Metro Courthouse

Reports to: District Manager

Overview

Each year, the Volunteer Center helps thousands of court-referred individuals access community service as an alternative to traditional sentencing. As a Court Referral Community Service (CRCS) Specialist, you will work directly with clients to understand their court requirements, connect them with meaningful service opportunities at local nonprofit organizations, and help them successfully complete their obligations.

We are looking for someone who is compassionate, organized, and committed to empowering people while providing excellent service, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring each referral is handled accurately and with dignity. We are currently hiring a Part-Time CRCS Specialist for our Metro Court House satellite location - with potential for full-time in the future. This position interviews court-referred volunteers, reviews court requirements, connects clients with appropriate nonprofit community service placements, maintains accurate confidential records, processes intake fees, and provides professional customer service to clients and court partners.

The ideal candidate is a people person who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential information, and able to thrive in a fast-paced office environment.

Client Intake and Referral Services

  • Interview court-referred volunteers and schedule appropriate nonprofit placements based on court requirements and availability.
  • Review court documentation to ensure referrals are consistent with court orders and program requirements.
  • Assist clients with questions regarding referrals, requirements, and program procedures.
  • Provide professional assistance to the public, court personnel, probation, law enforcement, and nonprofit partners.

Records and Compliance

  • Accurately enter and update confidential client information in proprietary software systems.
  • Review intake work for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate client records and strict confidentiality of client and staff information.

Fees and Transaction Records

  • Collect and reconcile client intake fees and maintain accurate transaction records.
  • Verify payment information and supporting documentation for accuracy.

Office and Team Support

  • Answer multi-line phones for nearby offices and support coverage at nearby offices when necessary
  • Perform general clerical duties including filing, scanning, document preparation, and record maintenance.
  • Maintain office inventory and supplies.
  • Participate in staff meetings and provide feedback on ways to improve referral processing procedures.

Required Skills

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn proprietary software systems.
  • Experience with data entry, payment processing, multi-line phones, or general office administration.
  • Court referral, nonprofit, customer service, or administrative experience preferred.

Background Clearance Requirement

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the Los Angeles Superior Court background clearance process. Selected candidates must complete a Live Scan fingerprinting appointment within five business days of receiving instructions and provide a badge photo meeting Court requirements.

Live Scan appointments are conducted at Hill St. Courthouse. Candidates will receive scheduling instructions and information regarding required identification. Clearance results may take approximately 2 to 30 days, and employment may not begin until Court clearance has been received.
