To thrive as a Volunteer Civil Engineer, a solid background in civil engineering principles, project management, and a relevant engineering degree are essential. Familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, GIS tools, and sometimes certification as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) are typically beneficial.
