Position Summary
Volunteer Program Assistant will support our Volunteer Manager in coordinating and managing our volunteer program.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Assistance with the recruitment, onboarding and ongoing training and support of volunteers to ensure a positive and rewarding experience.
  • Works closely with the Volunteer Manager to assist in the daily operations of the organization's gift shops.
  • Participates in in-service education, department meetings, and safety programs.
  • Performs other duties as required by management or by Administration from time to time within Federal and State regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Volunteer Recruitment:
    • Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to develop and implement recruitment strategies.
    • Utilize various channels to attract a diverse pool of volunteers.
    • Assist in the creation of compelling volunteer recruitment materials.
  2. Onboarding and Training:
    • Support the development of orientation materials for new volunteers.
    • Assist the Volunteer Manager in scheduling interviews, conduct volunteer training sessions and setting up new volunteer schedules with departments.
    • Ensure that volunteers are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed for their roles.
  3. Communication and Engagement:
    • Maintain regular communication with volunteers through newsletters, emails, and other platforms.
    • Foster a sense of community among volunteers by assisting Volunteer Manager in organizing events, meetings, or appreciation activities.
    • Act as a point of contact for volunteers, addressing inquiries and providing support as needed.
  4. Data Management:
    • Assist in maintaining accurate volunteer records and databases
    • Track volunteer hours and contributions for reporting purposes.
    • Generate reports on volunteer engagement and program effectiveness.
    • Maintain POS system for the gift shops.
  5. Program Evaluation:
    • Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to assess the success of the volunteer program.
    • Gather feedback from volunteers and use insights to make improvements.
    • Contribute to the development of strategies to enhance the volunteer experience.
  6. Qualifications:
    • Passion for the organization's mission.
    • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and independently.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or relevant software.

Expectations of the Position:
  • Dependable, report to work on-time for every schedule shift (ready to work at beginning - start of shift) and work full schedule shifts unless physically unable or pre-approved Paid Time Off (PTO) which includes personal and vacation.
  • Willing and able to work overtime and weekends as required by the position and/or approved by management.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Must be clean and neat in appearance and have a "friendly" service-oriented personality.
  • Abide by work-related / job procedures and organization policies; (refer to the Employee Handbook).

Qualifications of the Position:
  • Education: High school education preferred.
  • Skills: Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

Pay Range: $18 - $23 per hour
