Familiarity with basic art supplies, digital design software like Adobe Creative Suite, and sometimes experience with community art programs are commonly required. What is a volunteer artist?

Volunteer artists are individuals who offer their artistic skills and creativity without monetary compensation to support community projects, nonprofits, schools, or charitable organizations. They may create murals, teach art classes, design event materials, or contribute to public art installations. By volunteering, they help make art programs accessible, enrich communities, and gain valuable experience while making a positive impact.

How do volunteer artists typically collaborate with other team members or community groups during a project?

Volunteer Artists often work closely with project coordinators, fellow artists, and community organizations to plan and execute creative initiatives. Collaboration may involve brainstorming sessions, sharing techniques, dividing tasks such as mural sections or workshop topics, and adapting artistic ideas to meet the community's goals. Strong communication and flexibility are key, as projects may require artists to integrate feedback from various stakeholders and adjust their approach to fit available resources and timelines. This teamwork not only enriches the final outcome but also provides valuable networking and learning opportunities for the artist.

Job description

VOLUTEER OPPORTUNITY -

NSCHC would like murals drawn/painted in the three exam rooms at the Northview Heights Clinic. If unable to donate supplies, must be able to provide a quote for supplies. Must be willing to clean-up supplies and area when done for the day, so that clinic may proceed during business hours.

VOLUNTEER IMPACT

NSCHC was created by three compassionate physicians and multiple community partners and volunteers in 1993. It now serves over 4000 patients. In 2008, a small clinic opened in Northview Heights public housing community. To brighten up the cinderblock and the ambiance, an artist painted multiple murals throughout the clinic. However, during recent repairs and renovations, these murals were painted over. It would be wonderful to re-instate the colors and the positive imagery into this space again!
