Volunteer Assistant Coach - Kittery School Department
The Kittery School Department is currently seeking volunteer assistant coaches for a variety of sports and activities.ย  Previous coaching experience in assigned activity is very desireable.ย  Knowledge and background in the activity necessary.ย  Volunteer assistant coaches report to the Head Coach/Advisor, in conjunction iwth the Athletic Director and school principal.ย  Please indicate on your online application which activities you are interested in.


Volunteer Assistant Coach Job Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



ย 

1.ย ย ย  Has a thorough knowledge of the co-curricular policies and procedures approved by the Kittery School Committee and is responsible for implementation of these policies and procedures.

ย 

2.ย ย ย  Has knowledge of existing systems, state and league regulations, and implements them consistently and interprets them for each staff member.

ย 

3.ย ย ย  Understands the proper administrative chain of command and refers
all requests or grievances through proper channels. Attends all required public, staff and departmental meetings. .

ย 

4.ย ย ย  Maintains discipline and works to increase morale and cooperation within the activities program.

ย 

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITIES:

ย 

1.ย ย ย  Assists the Head Coach in carrying out his/her responsibilities.

ย 

2.ย ย ย  Instructs team members as to changes in the rules and teaches fundamentals of the activity as outlined by the Head Coach.

ย 

3.ย ย ย  Works within the basic framework and philosophy of the Head Coach/ Advisor.

ย 

4.ย ย ย  Attends all staff meetings and carries out scouting assignments as outlined by the Head Coach.

ย 

5.ย ย ย  Arrives before participants, to practices, contests and meetings for adequate preparation and remains until all participants have left the facility

ย 

6.ย ย ย  Never publicly criticizes, admonishes or argues with Head Coach/ Advisor or any staff member.

ย 

7.ย ย ย  Strives to improve skills by attending clinics and using resources made available by the Head Coach/ Advisor.

ย 

8.ย ย ย  Performs such duties that are consistent with the activity, that may be additionally assigned by the Head Coach and/or AD.

ย 

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:

ย 

1.ย ย ย  Assists the Head Coach/ Advisor in scheduling.

ย 

2.ย ย ย  Assists in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled events or practices and adheres to scheduled facility times.

ย 

STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

ย 

1.ย ย ย  Provides training rules and other unique regulations of the activity to each student who is considered a participant.

ย 

2.ย ย ย  By his/her presence at all practices, games and during travel time, provides assistance and guidance and safeguards each participant.

ย 

EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES:

ย 

1. Is accountable to the Head Coach/ Advisor for all equipment. Collects the costs of any equipment lost or not returned. Arranges for issuing and storing of equipment and submits to the Head Coach/ Advisor for annual inventory. Forms are provided for equipment billing.ย
