Volunteers at Tierra Encantada play a supportive role in our classrooms, helping to create a warm, engaging, and safe environment for young children. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, want to practice their Spanish, or are considering a career in early childhood education. Volunteers assist teachers and staff in daily classroom activities and support our mission of nurturing bilingual development from infancy.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Support teachers with classroom activities, such as storytelling, arts and crafts, music, and playtime
  • Interact positively with children to encourage Spanish language development through modeling and conversation
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning activity areas and materials
  • Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor play
  • Support transitions between activities, mealtimes, and rest periods
  • Follow all health, safety, and confidentiality guidelines
  • Model kindness, respect, and cultural appreciation in all interactions

Position Requirements
  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Interest in early childhood education or working with children
  • Spanish proficiency preferred but not required-must be willing to support a Spanish immersion environment
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Must be able to complete and pass a background check
  • Must meet state/local childcare volunteer requirements

Commitment
  • Minimum of 2 hours per week preferred, with flexible scheduling
  • Commitment to reliability and open communication with center staff
