JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for fabricating, maintenance and repair for all fiberglass ride tracks to include structural, interior, exterior and top riding surface. This includes layup, repair, filling, fairing, gel coat application and restoration of fiberglass and gelcoat to ensure safe and operationally ready attractions. Repairs and maintenance also conducted on fiberglass interactive figures and props using both automotive and water base paints. This position is detailed orientated and involves crafting, cutting, trimming, sanding, assembly, planning and time management. Knowledge of techniques, materials, and tools involved in repairs as well as tool maintenance and care is imperative. Depending on location, operation or usage of a high reach may be required.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Performs structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs to slides and ride tracks which may include direction of Management, Quality Control and Engineering. Suggests optional procedures for repairs on new and damaged parts and implements changes as needed or directed.
  • Performs gel coating on slides, riding surfaces and ride tracks to include spray and brush techniques, color matching, fading and blending to achieve the desired appearance and quality, which may include direction of Management, Engineering and Quality Control.
  • Responds to, plans and assists in recovery and repair of attraction fiberglass/gelcoat surfaces of water attractions slides to ensure operational readiness. Partner with other departments to ensure repairs fulfill required specification and successfully completed based on current weather conditions, accessibility and allotted time
  • Maintain interactive figures, tap stations, props and scales to include, planning/preparing for work, cleaning, repairing, painting, and cleaning work area. Assist Ride and Show Maintenance with access into figures, props and tap stations for their inspections and repairs to include mechanical disassembly and assembly of parts. Maintain, fabricate and install fasteners and attachments for animated figures, tap stations, and props. This can include buckles, straps, zippers, snaps, stand-offs, tabs and various inserts.
  • Completes inspections on slides, ride tracks, figures, tap stations and props for any wear/damage and document and communicate findings through Maximo and counterparts, such as Ride and Show Technicians and Quality Control.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
  • High school degree or GED is required
  • Technical school is preferred
  • Other: Previous training in automotive bodywork, marine or aerospace industries is essential
EXPERIENCE:
  • 5+ years: Structural lay up of composite matting materials, as well as, grinding and prep for repairs of finished products required
  • Additional experience of properly preparing indications and feathering composite materials to ensure all affected areas of discrepancies have been removed
  • Knowledge of spraying and brushing gel coatings is required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Valid Florida Drivers License/Required to operate company vehicles
