How much do voice picking jobs pay per hour?

As of Aug 7, 2026, the average hourly pay for voice picking in the United States is $48.17, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $39.18 and $60.10 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in voice picking, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Voice Picking role, you need strong attention to detail, basic numeracy skills, and the ability to follow verbal instructions accurately, typically with a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and experience using voice-directed picking headsets or similar technology is advantageous. Strong communication, time management, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are key soft skills. These qualities are essential to ensure accurate order fulfillment, efficient workflow, and high productivity in fast-paced warehouse environments.

What is a voice picking?

A Voice Picking job involves using a headset with voice commands to receive picking instructions in a warehouse setting. Workers follow audio prompts to locate, scan, and pick items for orders without relying on paper lists or handheld devices. This hands-free system improves accuracy and efficiency in order fulfillment. Voice picking is commonly used in industries like retail, grocery, and logistics to streamline operations.

What is it like to work with voice picking technology in a warehouse setting?

Working with voice picking technology means you'll wear a headset that gives you verbal instructions about which items to pick, their locations, and quantities, allowing you to work hands-free and efficiently. This system streamlines the picking process and helps minimize errors, as you can confirm each step verbally while moving through the warehouse. You'll typically work closely with other pickers, packers, and supervisors, and may be part of a team responsible for meeting daily order quotas. The pace can be fast, especially during peak periods, but the technology helps keep your workflow organized. Over time, gaining experience with voice-directed systems can open up advancement opportunities in warehouse operations or logistics.
