What success looks like in this role:

  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere environments (vCenter, ESXi, vSAN)
  • Implement and support Site Recovery Manager (SRM / Live Recovery Manager) and disaster recovery solutions
  • Design and operate Stretched / Metro Cluster architectures
  • Configure and manage VMware NSXT for networking and security
  • Engineer high availability, recoverability, scalability, and lifecycle management solutions
  • Perform monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis
  • Automate VMware operational tasks and processes
  • Support and deliver complex datacenter and hybrid infrastructure projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams following Agile methodologies

You will be successful in this role if you have:

Position: VMware System Engineer

The Systems Engineer will concentrate on designing and implementing network segmentation and virtualization using VMware Cloud Foundation tools. The engineer will also play a key role in creating and deploying an asynchronous disaster-avoidance solution with VMware Live Recovery (SRM) and vSphere Replication.

The system engineer will play a crucial role by providing expertise on complex technical projects related to the data center's virtualized server infrastructure, storage, and backup and recovery solutions.

They will work with key stakeholders to ensure proper capacity planning, expand capabilities, enhance efficiency, and streamline operations, with a focus on VMware systems and services in a 24x7x365 Manufacturing environment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with VMware technologies, Operations Manager, NSX-T, Live Recovery Manager (SRM)

  • Strong expertise in Layer 2 and 3 physical and virtual networking, Experience with CISCO and Dell Switches is an advantage.

  • Proven experience in the design of secure VMware Virtualization environments.

  • Proven experience and understanding of architecture principles across infrastructure platforms, security, data, integration, and applications layers.

  • Solid understanding of Microsoft technology, including Domains, Active Directory, and the interaction between hardware, operating systems, network, data center, and application software.

  • Solid experience identifying and delivering technical solutions to automate processes or functions to improve VMware operations.

  • Knowledge of systems monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning related to VMware infrastructure.

  • Strong analytical, prioritization, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Self-driven with the ability to deliver solutions without too much input.

  • VMware VCP or VCAP certifications, and CCNA and CCNP certifications, are a plus.
