Leidos is seeking an experienced Senior Virtualization and Storage Engineer to support the DTRA I3TS Infrastructure Services team to support, maintain and optimize critical mission operations across multiple geographic locations. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert responsible for installation, configuration, security, operation, and maintenance of servers, equipment, and software related VMware virtualization and storage technologies.

Candidates must demonstrate a high degree of problem-solving ability in a complex environment and be able to communicate effectively, both to the customer and to team members.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Virtualization and Storage Engineer with demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and managing VMware and storage environments. Candidate will be responsible for:

  • Deploy and maintain VMware ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and virtual machines across multiple physical sites.
  • Design and engineer scalable enterprise storage architectures supporting performance, resiliency, high availability, and mission growth requirements across on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Develop logical and physical storage architectures, reference designs, and engineering roadmaps aligned to customer mission requirements and future capacity demands.
  • Configure and manage core Omnissa VDI components including connection brokers, gateways, profile management, and load balancing.
  • Ensure system compliance with DISA STIG and DoD security requirements by leading critical hardening efforts.
  • Provide performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of VDI environments.
  • Perform regular maintenance, updates, and patches to ensure the security and reliability of the virtual infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to VMware virtualization technologies, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and virtual machine management.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior administrators and team members to foster a deeper understanding of virtualization technologies and their role within our infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to virtualization architecture, processes, and procedures.
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging VMware and storage solutions to continuously optimize system performance and efficiency.
  • Support projects to enhance the security, efficiency, or capability of the virtualized environment.
  • Work with vendors and third-party providers for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s Degree with 6 years of prior relevant experience. Additional technical experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Current Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoD 8570.11-IAT Level II certification requirements (currently Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, GSEC, or SSCP).
  • Advanced experience with VMware technologies (vSphere, vRealize, Horizon, VDI).
  • Experience with NetApp, Dell Unity, Hitachi and VMware vSAN storage technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of SANs, Fibre Channel fabric, vSphere Standard/Distributed Switches.
  • Deep understanding of DISA STIGs, system hardening, and DoD security compliance frameworks.
  • Extensive experience with server hardware (Cisco UCS, Dell, HP), SAN/NAS storage, IP routing, and firewall structures.
  • Hands‑on experience with Omnissa Horizon 7/8, App Volumes, Dynamic Environment Manager, and UAGs.
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, and FSlogix.
  • Experience Dell Wyse client management.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across systems, virtualization, and storage layers.
Desired Qualifications
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP)
  • ITIL 5 Foundation Certification
  • Experience with VMware Aria Automation and/or Aria Orchestrator.
  • Functional knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift virtualization technology.
  • Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible or PowerCLI for automation tasks.
  • Prior work within the Department of War and familiarity with its IT environments.
Pay Range

$92,300.00 - $166,850.00
