VMware SME - Cloud Environment (Remote with Travel) Location: Remote (up to 25% travel to OK, UT, PA, AL) | Clearance: Active Secret or Top Secret | Contract: 9 Months W2 (Potential Direct Hire) About the Role Join a high-impact project as a VMware Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting cloud infrastructure for mission-critical DoD/Federal clients. Work remotely with periodic travel, leveraging your expertise to architect, implement, and optimize advanced VMware environments. This contract position offers the opportunity for direct hire after 90 days. Responsibilities - Engineer, administer, and optimize VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation environments. - Design and support hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud solutions across VMware and private cloud platforms. - Lead virtualization architecture, workload migration, capacity planning, high availability (HA), DRS, and disaster recovery design and support. - Automate infrastructure using VMware Aria/vRealize, PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, and API-based orchestration. - Troubleshoot complex cloud networking, security, micro-segmentation, storage integration, and backup/recovery platforms. - Ensure compliance with DoD/Federal standards, including RMF/ATO, STIG, and enterprise cloud operations. Required Skills and Experience - Deep hands-on expertise with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation. - Proven experience designing and supporting hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud solutions. - Strong background in virtualization architecture, workload migration, HA, DRS, and disaster recovery. - Demonstrated skill in infrastructure automation using VMware Aria/vRealize, PowerCLI, Terraform, and Ansible. - Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, micro-segmentation, storage integration, backup/recovery, and operational troubleshooting. - Familiarity with DoD/Federal cloud environments, RMF/ATO requirements, STIG compliance, and enterprise-scale operations. - Active Secret or Top Secret Clearance (required). Preferred Skills - Experience supporting mission-critical workloads in highly regulated environments. - Advanced certifications in VMware or Cloud technologies.
