Job Summary
We are seeking a VMware Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design, administer, and support enterprise VMware cloud environments. This role focuses on virtualization architecture, hybrid and multi-cloud solutions, infrastructure automation, cloud networking, security, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in VMware technologies and experience supporting secure, mission-critical cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, administer, and engineer VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
• Design and support hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud solutions across VMware and private cloud platforms.
• Develop and maintain virtualization architectures for enterprise workloads.
• Perform workload migrations, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.
• Configure and support High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and disaster recovery solutions.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using VMware Aria/vRealize, PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, and API-based orchestration.
• Support cloud networking, micro-segmentation, storage integration, backup and recovery solutions, and operational troubleshooting.
• Ensure infrastructure security and compliance with enterprise standards and best practices.
• Support mission-critical cloud operations and maintain platform reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan, implement, and optimize cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Travel to customer sites as required to support implementation and operational activities.
Required Qualifications
• Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
• Deep expertise administering and engineering VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and VMware Cloud Foundation environments.
• Strong experience designing and supporting hybrid-cloud and multi-cloud solutions across VMware and private cloud platforms.
• Expertise in virtualization architecture, workload migration, capacity planning, High Availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and disaster recovery solutions.
• Experience with infrastructure automation using VMware Aria/vRealize, PowerCLI, Terraform, Ansible, and API-based orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of cloud networking, security, micro-segmentation, storage integration, backup and recovery platforms, and operational troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with DoD/Federal cloud environments, RMF/ATO requirements, STIG compliance, and enterprise cloud operations supporting mission-critical workloads.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% to customer locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience supporting enterprise cloud modernization initiatives.
• Experience working in highly secure government or defense environments.
• Willingness to transition to a direct-hire position following the initial contract period.
