NSX Administrator

Location: Harrisburg, PA 17110 – 1 day/week onsite
Duration: Long Term Contract 
Interview: Microsoft Teams
Candidate Requirement: Only candidates currently residing in Pennsylvania will be considered.
Rate: $75/hr W2 (No Benefits)/ C2C max $80-85/hr on C2C

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced NSX Administrator to design, deploy, configure, and manage VMware NSX-T environments. The resource will be responsible for maintaining the stability, security, and performance of virtualized network infrastructure while working closely with network, security, and systems teams.

The role will also involve advanced troubleshooting, automation, infrastructure modernization, and support for critical data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, configure, and administer VMware NSX-T environments, including logical switching, routing, load balancing, and distributed firewall policies.
  • Implement and manage micro-segmentation strategies and network security controls across virtualized workloads.
  • Perform maintenance, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management of NSX-T and related VMware platforms.
  • Monitor NSX infrastructure health, performance, capacity, and logs using native and third-party monitoring tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving network overlays, transport nodes, Edge appliances, routing, and integrations with physical networks.
  • Collaborate with network, server, security, and infrastructure teams on architecture, upgrades, deployments, and modernization initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, topology diagrams, SOPs, and configuration records.
  • Develop automation and scripting to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Support incident response and resolution for network virtualization and infrastructure issues.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide escalation support for critical infrastructure incidents.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong hands-on experience administering VMware NSX-T in enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VLANs, BGP, OSPF, VXLAN/overlay networking, and related technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, and the broader VMware ecosystem.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across networking, virtualization, and infrastructure layers.
  • Experience with network security and micro-segmentation design and implementation.
  • Experience with automation and scripting using PowerShell/PowerCLI, Python, and/or REST APIs.
  • Ability to work effectively with network, systems, security, and infrastructure teams.

Highly Desired

  • VCP-NV, VCAP-NV, or equivalent VMware NSX hands-on expertise.
  • Knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud networking.
  • Experience with monitoring and network analytics tools such as:
    • VMware Aria Operations
    • VMware Aria Operations for Networks / vRealize Network Insight
    • SolarWinds
    • Splunk
    • Similar enterprise monitoring platforms

Important Submission Requirements

  • Candidate must currently reside in Pennsylvania.
  • Hybrid schedule requires 1 day per week onsite in Harrisburg, PA.

  • Candidates must be able to support the required onsite schedule.
