Role: Windows VMware Active Directory Engineer
Location: Richmond - Virginia
Mode: Contract
Role Responsibilities:
Lead and support infrastructure migration consolidation and expansion initiatives
Design implement and optimize virtualization solutions aligned with business and technical requirements
Provide day to day administration and support for VMware environments including vSphere ESXi vCenter and related components
Monitor system performance capacity and availability ensure high availability and optimal uptime through proactive monitoring
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtual machines hosts clusters storage and network connectivity
Perform routine maintenance patching upgrades and lifecycle management of VMware infrastructure
Support and implement backup disaster recovery and business continuity solutions
Provide Tier 2 Tier 3 support for escalated virtualization Windows Server and Active Directory issues
Administer Active Directory domains forests trusts organizational units and identity services
Manage user accounts groups permissions and access controls in alignment with IAM standards
Plan and execute Windows Server and client OS upgrades and migrations including testing and deployment
Assess application and infrastructure compatibility define rollback strategies and perform post upgrade validation
Maintain system security through regular patching hardening monitoring and compliance checks
Ensure adherence to security audit and regulatory requirements
Collaborate with network storage security and application teams to resolve cross platform issues
Provide technical input for project planning risk analysis timelines and delivery milestones
Create maintain and update technical documentation SOPs architecture diagrams and operational runbooks
Support audit processes IT governance and compliance documentation requirements
Required Skills Experience
5 years of hands on experience in VMware administration
Strong expertise in VMware vSphere ESXi vCenter vSAN NSX
In depth knowledge of VMware features such as vMotion HA DRS and clustering
Strong hands on experience with Windows Server 20122022 and Active Directory
Solid understanding of Active Directory services including Group Policy DNS DHCP Kerberos and LDAP
Experience managing server hardware SANNAS storage and networking fundamentals
Proven experience in Windows and infrastructure upgrademigration projects
Experience working with monitoring and ticketing tools ServiceNow Remedy or equivalent
Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting for automation and operational efficiency
Strong troubleshooting problem solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication documentation and stakeholder coordination skills
Ability to handle multiple projects and operational tasks in a fast paced on call support environment
Good to Have Skills
Understanding of additional virtualization platforms VMware Hyper V
Familiarity with automation and configuration tools such as PowerCLI Ansible or similar
Exposure to ITIL based service management processes
