Vital Health Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Assistant to join our dynamic outpatient clinic team in Oceanside, New York. Work Environment

This position is located onsite within our community health clinic in Oceanside, NY. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional requirements for weekend or evening shifts during special events or emergencies. You'll be part of a collaborative atmosphere where you can actively engage with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure every patient receives the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Efficiently manage administrative duties such as scheduling patient appointments and maintaining up-to-date electronic health records (EHR).
  • Warmly welcome patients, thoughtfully collect their medical history, and prepare them for their exams, ensuring they feel comfortable and informed.
  • Assist healthcare providers during patient exams and procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and proper handling of medical tools.
  • Collect and accurately prepare specimens for lab testing, ensuring proper labeling and documentation protocols are strictly followed.
  • Administer medications, including injections, under the direct supervision of physicians, with a strong emphasis on patient safety.
  • Perform basic laboratory tests such as urinalysis and EKGs while documenting results accurately to support patient care decisions.
  • Educate patients on medication regimens and procedures, using clear communication to help them understand their healthcare needs.
  • Take and record vital signs, height, and weight, providing precise documentation in patient charts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in examination rooms and ensure medical supplies are properly stocked and sterilized.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care, participating in discussions that influence treatment pathways.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will primarily serve a diverse range of patients, including children, families, and individuals with varying health conditions. Our clinic emphasizes inclusivity and cultural sensitivity, ensuring every patient receives personalized attention and care.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent educational background.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from a recognized certifying body such as CMA from AAMA or RMA from AMT is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.
  • Proficient in EHR systems, with experience in documenting patient care electronically.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective patient interactions and teamwork.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize in a high-pressure environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to upholding patient confidentiality in line with HIPAA regulations.
Preferred Experience

Compensation and Benefits
