Samaritan's Purse is seeking a Data Visualization Specialist to join our team in North Wilkesboro, NC. You can be a part of a highly professional North American Disaster Relief team. In this role, you will be responsible for the collection and analysis of data for all areas of North American Disaster Relief (NADR), including the coordination of acquisition and preparation of data from various sources both within and outside the ministry and translation of key findings to leadership and other key stakeholders. You will be responsible for implementing and supporting other applications and technologies to enhance NADR programs. Come and use your gifts daily to advance the Gospel!
In the role of Data Visualization Specialist,you will have the opportunity to:
  • Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ
  • Analyze, interpret, and visualize data from multiple sources to inform disaster response and recovery efforts, including damage assessments, response operations, and situational awareness, to support the ministry's common operating picture.
  • Support the Operations Center, Volunteer Management System, Work Order Management system, and other teams and/or systems through the development and maintenance of reports, dashboards, views, and processes related to managing response, volunteer, beneficiary, and partner data.
  • Retrieve, transform, and visualize data through Application Programming Interface (APIs) and integrations with new and existing applications, and through the use of Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) tools such as Feature Manipulation Engine (FME) and Knime.
  • Offer informed and creative recommendations on how to use existing NADR data for analysis, trend observation, and growth, and recommend acquisition of new data sources through internal or external partnerships to support the needs of the department.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and training for NADR staff and volunteers on the use and interpretation of dashboards, reports, and custom applications.
  • Understand and be prepared to backfill for other roles on the NADR Information Technology & Data Systems team by developing familiarity with geospatial reporting & analysis as well as general application support and project management processes.
  • Provide on-call department technology support, to include after-hours and weekend support on a rotating schedule.
  • Stay current on emerging trends, technologies, tools, sites, applications, and analytics applicable to the work of NADR.
  • Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified in the job description.

What are the qualifications?

As a qualified candidate, you will have the following skills and experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Data Analysis, or closely related discipline and three (3) to five (5) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • General knowledge with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.
  • General knowledge of relational databases and complex datasets
  • Experience querying and manipulating large datasets
  • Ability to verbally and visually communicate research results
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Twelve credit hours of college-level Biblical Studies preferred, not required
