Position Summary

The Data Visualization Specialist supports the Client’s National Customer Service Improvement Project (CSIP) by designing and developing high-quality data visualizations, dashboards, reports, and presentations that enable data-informed decision-making for the Client. This role translates complex program, grants, and operational data into clear, accessible, and actionable visual products aligned with user needs, federal accessibility standards, and Office of Head Start (OHS) priorities.

The Data Visualization Specialist collaborates closely with the Data Engineer/Data Project Lead, Data Analysts, and program staff to ensure visual products are accurate, consistent with source data, and tailored to their intended audiences.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards, reports, and visual analytics to support grants management, monitoring, program oversight, and leadership decision-making.
  • Translate complex quantitative and qualitative data into clear, user-friendly visual formats that communicate trends, risks, and insights effectively.
  • Create visual content for management briefings, presentations, reports, and ad hoc leadership requests.
  • Support iterative development of visual products by incorporating user feedback and evolving requirements.
  • Ensure visualizations align with program objectives, operational workflows, and data-informed priorities.
  • Work closely with data engineering and analytics staff to ensure visual products accurately reflect underlying data sources.
  • Apply federal accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508 considerations) and best practices to visual designs.
  • Utilize approved visualization and analytics tools to develop and maintain visual products.
  • Document visualization logic, data sources, and assumptions to support transparency, reuse, and knowledge transfer.
  • Support development of templates, style guides, and standard visualization components to promote consistency.
  • Contribute to national initiatives, cross-regional efforts, and special data projects by developing tailored data visualizations and visual summaries.
  • Support ad hoc data requests and rapid-turn analyses, as needed, within contract scope.
  • Participate in meetings, briefings, and planning discussions related to data reporting and visualization needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data visualization, information design, data science, statistics, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of post-baccalaureate professional experience directly related to data visualization, reporting, or information design.
  • 1+ years of experience translating complex data into clear, effective visual stories for diverse audiences.
  • 1+ years of experience with visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting federal programs or grants management environments; early childhood or Head Start/Early Head Start is preferred.
  • US government-issued security clearance required (will be initiated upon hire)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to pass an MVR check.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to design visuals that are both analytically sound and visually engaging.
  • Attention to detail and strong quality assurance skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, team-based environment
