Job description

Summary: Under the direction of the Chief Dietitian or Assistant Director, performs essential food and nutrition duties associated with patient menu selection, tray and nourishment distribution, meal tray assembly and set up.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: Previous food service experience, some knowledge of therapeutic diets preferred.


Skills and Abilities:

· Skills in organization and priority setting.

· Manual dexterity and motor coordination

· Basic Computer skills

· To work independently with minimal supervision;

· To communicate effectively with patients, peers and other departments

· To work collaboratively with nursing service and other departments

· To complete basic math calculations

· Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)

· Demonstrated customer service skills

· Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers

· Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines

· Ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams

Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Ability to stand for up to 90 minutes at one time. Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds. Ability to walk, sit, hear, speak, bend and reach. Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, climbing, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 50 lbs.
