Job Summary:
The Bakery Combo Clerk supports the Bakery Lead in meeting the department's sales and profit goals and contributes to a positive customer shopping experience by upholding quality standards. Bakery Combo Clerks are vital to store operations, often serving as the point of contact for customers. Additionally, They assist with baking duties and responsibilities in the department as needed.
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Provide friendly and helpful customer service, including handling difficult situations and resolving customer concerns, with supervisor assistance as needed.
  • Follow approved procedures for receiving, pricing, and stocking products to ensure accuracy, quality, and proper rotation.
  • Prepare, package, and stock bakery items as assigned.
  • Transport products to preparation or storage areas, including refrigerated storage boxes.
  • Maintain inventory control to ensure freshness, product quality, and turnover, minimizing out-of-stock or overstocked items.
  • Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy to control the level of damaged goods.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, and friendly department to ensure a positive image for customers.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow local, state, and federal health and civil code regulations.
  • Adhere to all state, county, and local weights and measures laws and labeling requirements.
  • Report malfunctioning refrigeration or equipment to store management immediately.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of ongoing promotions and store policies to provide accurate information to customers.
  • Report potentially unsafe conditions and suspicious activities to ensure a safe store environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge:
  • Proficiency in basic math and cash handling procedures.
  • Understanding of customer service best practices and strategies to enhance customer engagement.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures to ensure food safety.
  • Familiarity with different types of bakery products, ingredients, and recipes.

Work Conditions:

  • Dress Code: Professional and presentable attire as determined by store management, including a name tag, company-issued shirts, hats, jackets, or personal shirts that are black, burgundy, or blue, in good repair, and not faded.
    • Use approved hats or hair nets.
    • Wear safety toes and non-slip shoes.
  • Exposure: May be exposed to hot equipment and cleaning chemicals.
  • Noise Level: Working in an environment with moderate to high noise levels from mixers, ovens, and other bakery equipment.
  • Interaction: Constant interaction with customers and team members in a fast-paced retail environment.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
