Job description

The American Red Cross is seeking compassionate volunteers to support Disaster Recovery Casework throughout Central and Southeastern Washington.

Disaster Recovery Casework volunteers work directly with individuals and families after disasters, helping them navigate recovery resources, create recovery plans, and connect with community support services. This role provides meaningful one-on-one support for people rebuilding after difficult situations and is completed virtually from home.

As a Disaster Recovery Casework volunteer, you may:

  • Connect with clients impacted by disasters by phone or video
  • Help identify recovery needs and available resources
  • Provide emotional support and guidance
  • Maintain regular follow-up communication with clients
  • Work alongside local community partners and Red Cross teams remotely

We are looking for volunteers who:

  • Have strong listening and communication skills
  • Are compassionate, patient, and organized
  • Can commit approximately 2–4 hours per week
  • Are comfortable working virtually and by phone
  • Want to make a lasting impact in their community

This position is remote with full training provided by the American Red Cross. No previous disaster response experience is required.
