Job Description:

The Instructional Coach, Literacy partners with district and school leaders to strengthen literacy instruction through job-embedded coaching, professional learning, and data-informed instructional support. This role supports the successful implementation of Amplify's literacy programs by building educator capacity, improving instructional practices, and driving positive student outcomes. The Instructional Coach collaborates closely with educators and leadership to tailor coaching strategies that meet district priorities and evolving implementation needs.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Instructional Coach's daily responsibilities will be determined along with their manager, based on the district's goals and priorities throughout the year. Specific areas of focus may include , but are not limited to:

  • Leading professional learning around Amplify CKLA, ELA, and mCLASS.

  • Working with groups of educators in schools to enhance implementation, set goals, and plan literacy instruction, based on assessment and implementation data.

  • Providing recommendations to school leadership designed to enhance outcomes and equity of learning for diverse student populations, including students with learning and thinking differences and English Learners.

  • Leading classroom observations and providing coaching and feedback to teachers and leaders to strengthen implementation of Amplify's literacy suite.

  • Facilitating PLCs and office-hour consultations.

  • Supporting data analysis and instructional planning.

  • Analyzing student work and formative assessment data.

  • Cultivating model classrooms and capturing exemplary instructional practices.

  • Participating in Amplify coaching meetings and internal trainings.

  • Maintaining accurate documentation of coaching activities and submitting a final written summary report of services rendered for district compliance.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Seeking and incorporating feedback to continuously improve coaching practice.

  • Creating or customizing professional development experiences.

  • Facilitating district-wide professional development sessions (virtual and in person).

  • Supporting broader Professional Development initiatives during district closures, breaks, or other periods when Amplify remains open.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Passionate about literacy and deep knowledge of structured literacy

  • Experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for educators in K-5 or 6-8

  • 5+ years of K-5 or 6-8 ELA teaching experience, leading to demonstrable results for students

  • Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers

  • Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology-based productivity tools, mainly Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, etc.)

  • Able to travel locally (up to 4 days per week) across the Inglewood, CA area to support educators

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using or supporting Amplify CKLA, ELA, and/or mCLASS

  • 10+ years of K-5 or 6-8 teaching and leadership experience, leading to demonstrable results for students

  • Experience in a dual language or bilingual educational setting

  • Fluency in Spanish (including speaking, reading, and writing) and ability to deliver trainings in Spanish

  • Ability to support educators in a remote learning environment, if needed

  • Master's or advanced degree in education

Additional Information:

Location: This position requires that the Instructional Coach, Literacy is permitted to work in the US, have residency in the US, and possess a valid US driver's license. The Instructional Coach must reside within 30 miles of Inglewood, CA. The Coach may be asked to deliver sessions throughout the country based on business needs and during school closures or if the contract terminates early.

Travel: Local travel is required and considered an essential job function. Car mileage and related expenses for professional development delivery are reimbursed in accordance with company expense policy.

Documentation: If selected, a background check will be required.

Equipment: This position requires reliable home internet that can support video calls on Google Meet and Zoom and a quiet, professional place to deliver remote professional development.
