Job Duties:
The City of Virginia Beach Department of Economic Development helps create a vibrant economy by attracting new companies, helping existing companies grow and assisting entrepreneurs. Our Team is seeking an Administrative Technician to serve as the Administrative Clerk for the Virginia Beach Development Authority (VBDA), Oceana Land Use Conformity Committee (OLUCC), Cannabis Advisory Task Force (CATF), Town Center Advisory Board (TCAB), and the Military Economic Development Advisory Committee (MEDAC). The committees meet monthly and or quarterly.
Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing records retention for the Department of Economic Development.
  • Coordinating, setting up and running hybrid in-person and virtual meetings utilizing audio/visual programs/equipment.
  • Providing administrative Support to Project Delivery Team.
  • Assisting committees, boards, commissions, and Microsoft Teams meeting preparation administratively.
  • Transcribing minutes from video and or written notes.
  • Preparing and organizing legal documents for signatures and execution.
  • Working with and assisting City, State, or Municipality officials.
  • Microsoft Office Suite's high-level proficiency.
  • Providing excellent customer service; serves as a backup receptionists for lunch and leave.
  • Managing multiple calendars in Microsoft Outlook, including Internal Meeting Rooms and staff.
  • Editing, reviewing, formatting, and revising various documents for publication and presentation.

Minimum Requirements:
MINIMUMS: Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to (4) four years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: All employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies.
