Job Description:
The Desktop Engineering System Administrator 1 works to maintain and support the Enterprise UECM environment for the LSU A&M campus as well as support enterprise deployments. This position supports and maintains the Enterprise Mobile Device Management (MDM) environment for the LSU A&M campus which includes managing application deployments and imaging as well as the support for both on-premises and cloud endpoints. The position also assists with the operation, configuration, and maintenance of departmental servers, including Active Directory, Group Policy, certificate management, and file and print services. A basic to intermediate understanding of Windows Server 2019 is required.
Job Responsibilities:
SCCM Administration - Utilizing Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) this position will collaborate with campus departments to design, build, and maintain custom operating system images for deployment via PXE boot. These images will support lab, departmental, and base configurations across the university. The role also includes developing and managing application deployments that meet the needs of all LSU academic departments, faculty, and staff, including software utilized in campus computer labs. (20%)
INTUNE Administration - Responsible for the deployment, configuration, and management of Microsoft INTUNE and related Unified Endpoint Configuration Management (UECM) technologies. This position ensures secure, compliant, and efficient management of enterprise endpoints (Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android) while supporting IT operations and end-user productivity across the organization while also collaboration with IT Security, Infrastructure, and Desktop Support teams to implement and maintain endpoint standards and security policies. (20%)
Virtual Desktop Administration - Collaborate with an internal technical team to support a mission-critical virtual desktop environment, ensuring 24/7 operational availability. Responsibilities include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), server operating systems, SQL Server applications, and associated storage systems. (15%)
Print Server Administrator - Responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing management of enterprise print services and infrastructure. This role ensures reliable, secure, and efficient printing operations across the organization by maintaining print servers, queues, drivers, and print management solutions. (15%)
Perform routine system maintenance, including but not limited to patching, health checks, operating system and third-party software updates, change management and validation, and enforcement of operational and configuration standards within the LSU A&M environment.
Assist in the maintenance and administration of the enterprise wide infrastructure, and escalate system anomalies to senior staff for analysis and resolution. Collaborate with the ITS Security team to deploy, manage. (15%)
Work in partnership with the Information Technology Services Security team to deploy, manage, and maintain enterprise software and tools that align with IT risk mitigation strategies. Provide Tier 3 support to desktop support analysts, ensuring successful adoption and compliance with UECM standards across all departments. (5%)
Develops staff training, customer documentation standards, and customer service standards. This also includes creating support articles, detailing the process to achieve success using the tools developed. (5%)

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hands on experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and/or Intune in an enterprise environment. A strong understanding of Windows 11, Windows Server 2019+, Azure Active Directory. Experience should include application packaging, task sequences. Understanding of PowerShell scripting and automation, as well as a working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and basic core networking fundamentals. Self driven and able to present ideas for optimization to management.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience. In addition to the minimum qualifications, candidates should have at least five years of experience with SCCM, Intune, Autopilot deployments, management, and provisioning. Familiarity with Microsoft SQL Server, SCCM reporting, and SQL Server report creation is highly desired. Master-level experience supporting macOS, iOS, and Android devices is preferred, along with knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments, VMware, and Linux operating systems.
