About this Job The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. Learn more about Louisiana Department of Health This position performs duties associated with the state-wide technical engineering aspect of the Drinking Water Revolving Loan Fund (DWRLF) as well as some shared responsibilities associated with Capacity Development and Public Water System Supervision. This position involves applying advanced knowledge of complex and highly-technical administrative, organizational, and professionally-licensed engineering skills to large-scale drinking water system construction projects.

Minimum Qualifications Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate. NOTE: This is a temporary position to be utilized while the incumbent is securing a Louisiana Engineer Intern certificate. Permanent status shall be denied to incumbents occupying this position.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: Serves as the DWRLF project engineer for DWRLF construction loan drinking water improvement projects across the State. Performs routine on-site construction inspections Performs independent engineering agency reviews and approvals of routinely submitted bid documents, contract documents, payment requests, and engineering contracts Performs engineering review and evaluation of System Improvement Plans and Environmental Information Documents submitted by water systems Performs technical reviews of federal and state funding requirements Assists the DWRLF Program Engineer and/or Deputy Chief Engineer with updating the strategies and goals of the Louisiana Department of Health's Capacity Development Program Performs emergency response duties as directed Position-Specific Details: Location: Office of Public Health / Bureau of Engineering Services / East Baton Rouge Parish Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a Probationary or a Promotional appointment Cost Center: 3262207530 Position Number(s): 50356286 Career Progression: This position may be filled as an Engineer Intern Applicant, Engineer Intern 1, 2, Engineer 3, 4, or 5 determined by the qualifications of the candidate selected.
