Job Summary
  • Evaluates assigned patients and plans, implements and documents nursing care.

Oncology Department Overview:
  • 27-bed medical/oncology unit that provides care to adult and geriatric medical oncology patients, surgical gynecology patients, sickle cell patients and in-patient hospice patients.
  • Most patients have a primary and/or secondary diagnosis of cancer and require treatment of chronic and episodic illness, therapeutic interventions, and side effect management. Care is also provided to patients in the terminal phase of illness.
  • Unique services provided include chemotherapy administration and side-effect management, blood administration, management of oncologic emergencies, pain management, psychosocial and spiritual care, and inpatient hospice care.
