The RoleAspenTech Digital Grid Management (DGM) is a fast-paced, growing, high technology company headquartered in Medina, Minnesota and with offices all around the globe. As a world leader in the Operations Technology (OT) field, DGM develops and supplies state-of-the-art energy management, optimization, and control software solutions to energy utility companies worldwide.Your Impact

DGM currently has an opening for a Principal Solution Consultant. In this position you will oversee technical aspects of Business Development for our Digital Grid Management Products. We are looking for talented, energetic, and outgoing engineers to work in a rapidly growing field where you will have the opportunity to work directly with customers around the world. This position requires engineers to develop an understanding of our customers' challenges and industry drivers and propose a solution that addresses their requirements in a pre-sales role to enable the growth and selection of DGM's Oil & Gas Midstream and Downstream solutions. In this position, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead technical engagements and define scope for assigned opportunities to maximize product license and service bookings.
  • Work diligently on responding to RFPs and RFIs to qualify our offering for utility, and oil & gas company bids
  • Apply consultative skills in customer-facing situations to identify customer problems, understand their business and operational issues, and establish a credible value proposition.
  • Facilitate customer understanding of the technical functionality of the DGM's SCADA and Pipeline Management solutions, as well as their impact on control room operations and maintenance
  • Lead and/or participate in customer consulting engagements to facilitate sales, including workshops, product demonstrations, and scope review sessions
  • Proactively support sales pipeline development (e.g. marketing, account planning, awareness sessions, etc.) and sales execution (e.g. achieving technical win, establishing Sequence of Events) in the assigned accounts and opportunities
  • As a principal engineer, you will
    • Lead complex and high value opportunities to assess the required solutions, identify/estimate scope and create customer facing quotes
    • Use experience and oil & gas industry knowledge to drive process improvements and increase capacity for increased growth and scalability
    • Focus and help implement strategies to achieve new growth initiatives and target market expansions within the existing customer base
What You'll Need

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Computer Science or another relevant technical field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in any one or more of the following:
    • Technical pre-sales engineering, RFP development, and quote creation
    • Engineering role in supporting OT/SCADA system, and Oil & Gas pipeline applications
    • Consulting, deployment experience with similar utility control systems for pipeline distribution management
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, including ability to make clear observations and conclusions based on customer interviews and data.
  • Strong time / project management and organization skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly, independently research, identify and solve technical problems.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel to domestic locations (less than 15%).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with great customer facing, presentation, and demonstration skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical understanding of networking and security, operating systems, databases, virtual environments, and systems integration
  • Knowledge of DGM's product suites or similar applications
  • Knowledge of oil & gas measurement principles and hydraulics

The salary range for this role is $120,900.00 - $151,100.00. This range represents what we in good faith believe is the range possible for base compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range based on several factors. This range may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for bonus or variable incentive pay. Additionally, we offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, charitable giveback day, medical/dental/vision insurance, and retirement benefits to eligible employees.
