Job description

PROJECT ENGINEER / BIM MODELER

  • Create layout file for each project (2D/AutoCAD)
    • Confirm all building geometry is accurate and coordinated between design drawings.
    • Update per new drawing releases.
    • Add project control information as required.
    • Update as other trades’ scope is defined (elevator shops, precast shops, etc.).
  • Slope study (Revit, AutoCAD or Bluebeam)
    • Review all slope and drain locations. Confirm positive drainage is achieved and confirm all ADA requirements are achieved with construction tolerances.
  • Floor finish plan (Revit, AutoCAD or Bluebeam)
    • Confirm all required finishes are identified and scope is clear. Confirm mix design and reinforcement are acceptable with finish requirements.
    • Control joint plans (Revit, AutoCAD or Bluebeam).
    • Create a plan to identify all control joint locations for SOG, Masonry, Brick and site scope.
  • Assist in project pursuit
    • Create a 3D model for visuals, quantities and scheduling.
    • Plan site logistics, including pump truck and tower crane locations.
  • Create 3D models for field use (Revit, AutoCAD or SketchUp)
    • Model NCM’s scope of work to construction tolerances.
    • This can be exported and used by NCM field staff to complete construction while on site.
    • This can be used to create any custom visuals required for all aspects of construction (CMU elevations, in-slab coordination for PT structures, embed locations, etc.).
    • Identify column heights and formwork requirements.
  • Full drawing review for coordination and constructability issues
    • Create requests for information and manage documentation (organize and upload to PlanGrid, make sure subcontractors are aware of changes).
    • Provide quantity breakdowns to project managers for cost adds or credits (subcontractors and suppliers).
    • ASI/PR tracking.
    • CMU coursing and door frame size review
  • Attend design and coordination meetings (on site or virtual)
    • Organize and provide documents to be used during meetings.
    • Prepare for running/hosting meetings.
  • Create project sequencing visuals
    • Identify construction joint locations and quantities for PT structures.
    • Procure formwork.
    • Use in project scheduling.
  • Submittal review and coordination
    • Review internal subcontractor submittals (rebar shops, formwork shops).
    • Review other trades submittals (anchor bolt shops, steel shops, elevator shops, precast shops etc.).
  • Field staff support
    • Assist in plan reading and interpretation.
    • Help resolve any issues identified on site by foreman.
    • Be a resource for information flow.
  • Order product quantities
    • Create elevations with grade and brick ledge elevations to provide accurate CMU & brick quantities.
    • Provide detailed & accurate CMU/brick quantity orders.
  • Project Manager and Estimating support as needed
    • Quantity takeoff and enter into estimating spreadsheet for review.
    • As project scopes change, upload revised drawings to PlanGrid, evaluate new scope and send change order pricing as needed.
    • Upload all project information into PlanGrid (proposals, estimates, submittals, special instructions, site logistic plans, tower crane plans, etc.) per the NCM process to ensure thorough communication and documentation of project details.
    • Send in all product data for approvals
