Job description

Overview
Auburn University Libraries seeks applicants for a Student Assistant position in the Innovation & Research Commons (I&RC) Makerspace and Virtual Reality Space unit. This role supports faculty, staff, and students by assisting with the daily operations of the unit. Student assistants may work up to 20 hours per week, based on operational needs. Work hours are scheduled between 7:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
• Provide assistance to users with virtual reality (VR) equipment, including setup, operation, and basic troubleshooting.
• Support VR project development by guiding users through available tools and resources.
• Assist with the intake, setup, and monitoring of 3D printing jobs submitted by users.
• Offer basic support for 3D design using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
• Contribute to a variety of Makerspace projects, including prototyping and creative initiatives, as assigned.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Makerspace and VR environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations of the unit.
Qualifications
  • Enrolled student at Auburn University.
  • Must provide detailed availability for each day of the week within library operating hours.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform tasks that may include standing, walking, reaching, handling library materials and equipment, and occasionally lifting or moving items weighing up to 25 pounds.
