Job description

Overview
The McCrary Institute in partnership with Auburn's Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE), is looking to hire a Student Research Support Assistant. This partnership operates the power systems lab to support workforce development and cybersecurity research. The role helps facilitate technical communication and lab usage between the institute, the department, and industry partners. It is also responsible for configuring lab equipment and components to support classes, research, and demonstrations.
Responsibilities
  • Support Lab Operations (Assist ECE labs/senior design projects, and industry researchers)
  • Configure OT Equipment (SEL Relays, DNP3 protocol)
  • Power System Modeling (OpalRT Hypersim)

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Enrolled as a student at Auburn University
  • U.S. Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Has completed, is currently enrolled in, or plans to pursue ELEC 3600 (Electric Power Engineering) at least two years prior to graduation
  • Interest in power system design/protection or smart grids.
  • Interest in computer networking or virtual machines.
  • Experience in energy sector with utilities or equipment manufacturers.
