We are looking for a dependable Medical Receptionist to support a busy behavioral health front office in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This Long-term Contract position focuses on creating a welcoming experience for patients and families while coordinating both in-person and telehealth intake visits. The role is well-suited for someone who stays composed during shifting patient volume, communicates clearly, and handles scheduling details with accuracy.
Responsibilities:
• Welcome patients and families for walk-in intake visits, offering a detail-oriented and friendly first point of contact in person and through telehealth support workflows.
• Complete registration steps by verifying identification and insurance information, scanning documentation, and establishing new patient records in the system.
• Guide patients through portal access and explain basic next steps so they understand how to use available communication and appointment tools.
• Assist individuals and families with intake paperwork, including treatment consent, privacy notices, and information release documents, while ensuring forms are completed correctly.
• Manage the conclusion of intake visits by updating charts, recording assigned staff information, and arranging follow-up appointments with close attention to accuracy.
• Coordinate appointment calendars in a setting where scheduling details may be layered or change quickly, maintaining organization throughout the day.
• Respond calmly to fluctuating lobby activity and shifting priorities, helping maintain an efficient and welcoming front desk environment.
• Learn additional administrative duties over time through training, shadowing, and ongoing guidance from experienced team members and leadership.
• Escalate unusual situations appropriately and collaborate with supervisors, team leads, and administrative staff to support smooth daily operations.• Experience in a medical front office, receptionist, or patient-facing administrative role.
• Demonstrated ability to schedule patients accurately and manage appointments with strong attention to detail.
• Comfortable supporting both in-person patient interactions and virtual or telehealth-related intake processes.
• Ability to greet patients warmly, communicate clearly, and provide detail-oriented customer service in a fast-moving environment.
• Working knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard front desk procedures.
• Strong organizational skills with the flexibility to adapt to changing patient volume and daily workflow demands.
• Ability to handle confidential patient information with discretion and maintain accurate electronic records.
