Job description

Senior Civil / Structural Engineer (P.E. Required)

Greenville, SC (Primary) | Nationwide Office Flexibility

Hargrove Engineers & Constructors is seeking a Senior Civil / Structural Engineer (P.E.) to support complex industrial EPC projects across the U.S. This role is anchored in our Greenville, SC office, with flexibility to support projects and collaborate from additional Hargrove offices in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Pennsylvania, based on project and business needs.

This position is intended for an experienced engineer capable of serving as Engineer of Record and providing technical leadership on civil and structural scopes for industrial facilities.

What You'll Do
  • Perform complete civil and structural engineering design for complex industrial projects

  • Apply advanced engineering techniques and analysis under general supervision

  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) where professional engineering certification is required

  • Develop:

    • Conceptual layouts, structural framing concepts, and cost studies

    • Estimate-level and detailed designs, calculations, and material take-offs

  • Produce clear, organized calculations and sketches suitable for checking, drafting, and client deliverables

  • Ensure designs emphasize constructability, efficiency, and client expectations

  • Review and check calculations, drawings, and vendor documentation for accuracy and code compliance

  • Coordinate with multidiscipline engineering teams (process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation)

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers

  • Support procurement through scopes, specifications, and bid packages

  • Review fabrication drawings and construction submittals

  • Perform fieldwork as needed, including tie-ins and construction support

  • Lead civil/structural efforts on small to large projects, ensuring execution within scope, schedule, and budget

  • Support interoffice execution and virtual project teams

What We're Looking ForEducation & Credentials
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
    (Structural coursework required for structural-focused roles)

  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license - Required

Experience
  • 6+ years of relevant industrial civil/structural engineering experience

  • EPC experience supporting process, manufacturing, or heavy industrial facilities

Technical Expertise
  • Strong knowledge of:

    • International Building Code (IBC)

    • ASCE, AISC, ACI, and related standards

  • Experience using civil/structural analysis software and interpreting results

  • Knowledge of industrial foundations, framing systems, and structural materials

  • Ability to:

    • Develop construction specifications

    • Estimate engineering hours, material quantities, and construction costs

    • Lead teams and deliver on commitments

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation

  • Strong communication, presentation, and client-facing skills

  • Ability to lead interoffice and virtual teams effectively

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
