What is a virtual observer?

Virtual Observers are professionals who remotely monitor activities, environments, or processes through digital platforms, often using video feeds or specialized software. They are commonly employed in healthcare, security, customer service, and workplace safety to ensure compliance with protocols, detect issues, and provide real-time feedback. Their role helps organizations maintain safety and efficiency without needing to have someone physically present at the location being observed.

How does a virtual observer typically interact with healthcare staff during their shift?

As a Virtual Observer, you play a crucial role in patient safety by monitoring multiple patients remotely via video feeds. You collaborate closely with onsite healthcare staff, such as nurses and patient care technicians, by promptly communicating any concerning behaviors or incidents you observe. Effective communication and clear reporting are essential, as you may need to alert the care team in real time to prevent falls, self-harm, or other safety risks. This collaborative approach helps ensure a safer environment for patients and supports the clinical team in delivering attentive care.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a virtual observer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Virtual Observer, you need strong attention to detail, situational awareness, and familiarity with surveillance protocols, often supported by a background in security or healthcare monitoring. Proficiency in using remote video monitoring systems, incident reporting software, and secure communication platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, critical thinking, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are essential soft skills in this role. These skills enable Virtual Observers to effectively detect and report safety risks or unusual activity, ensuring prompt intervention and maintaining a safe environment.

The Training Manager will create and maintain engaging training content across written, video, visual, and LMS formats, including newsletters, how-to guides, job aids, training modules, and field communication tools. This role will also conduct field training in restaurant locations to observe execution, coach leaders, gather feedback, and identify training opportunities.

The ideal candidate is creative, tech-savvy, highly organized, and deeply connected to restaurant culture, with hands-on experience translating brand standards into practical training tools that help restaurant teams succeed.

What You'll Get (Benefits):

  • Perk-Spot Discounts - National savings on everything from travel to tech, plus exclusive deals at our own restaurants.
  • Career Growth - We're growing fast, and we love to promote from within.
  • And more good stuff - Because working with us should feel rewarding every day.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

As the Training Manager for Uncle Julio's, you'll design, deliver, and manage training initiatives that drive engagement, consistency, and operational excellence across the brand. You'll own the development of brand-specific learning content for our LMS, such as WiseTail, while also creating videos, newsletters, how-to guides, job aids, leader tools, and field communication resources.

You'll lead both in-person and virtual training sessions, conduct field visits, observe restaurant execution, coach leaders, gather feedback, and identify training gaps. This role serves as the communication and training bridge between Restaurant Support Center departments and field leadership, ensuring new initiatives, promotions, menu updates, system changes, and operational standards are clearly communicated and executed.

You'll collaborate closely with Operations, Culinary, HR, Marketing, Risk, and IT to ensure all training materials are accurate, practical, brand-right, and aligned with Uncle Julio's standards for hospitality, food quality, safety, cleanliness, and guest experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain Uncle Julio's brand training content, including LMS modules, videos, newsletters, how-to guides, job aids, facilitator guides, and field communication tools.
  • Deliver in-person and virtual training for restaurant leaders and field teams to support brand standards, operational execution, hospitality, food quality, and guest experience.
  • Conduct field visits to observe execution, coach leaders, gather feedback, and identify training opportunities.
  • Partner with Operations, Culinary, HR, Marketing, Risk, and IT to support training for new initiatives, menu rollouts, promotions, technology updates, compliance topics, and safety procedures.
  • Own and maintain Uncle Julio's training calendar, rollout timelines, training resources, and LMS content updates.
  • Support manager development through training tools focused on leadership, communication, coaching, accountability, shift execution, and team member development.
  • Reinforce Uncle Julio's brand standards, including polished casual hospitality, scratch kitchen execution, food quality, beverage standards, cleanliness, and celebration-based guest service.

  • Experience using LMS platforms such as WiseTail, Schoox, or similar systems.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to create engaging content (written, video and visual).
  • Hands-on restaurant industry experience required.
  • Ability to travel for field training and brand support.
