Job description

Overview

Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children is proud to be the highest delivering hospital in the state of Alabama as well as the regional referral center for North Alabama and southern Tennessee. RNs on our 38 bed Mother/Baby unit provide family centered couplet care. Shortly after delivery, a dedicated team of nurses help mom and baby with skin-to-skin bonding and breastfeeding. The Mother Baby unit allows for rooming-in, lactation support, and designated quiet hours.The Mother/Baby RN is skilled in assessing, educating, and caring for postpartum mothers and newborns. The RN identifies patient needs, prioritizes care based on assessments, and is accountable for patient care delivered during the assigned shift. The Mother/Baby RN collaborates and effectively communicates with multidisciplinary team members. The Mother/Baby RN will receive ongoing education and training related to maternal/newborn care and breastfeeding.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate of state board School of Nursing with current Alabama or multi-state licensure

Experience: Experience preferred; new graduates accepted.

Additional Skill/Abilities: BLS and NRP required within 6 months of hire.
