Job description

Program Director
Reports to: COO
Location: Lakewood, CO | Open to Remote Work (travel required)
Status: Full-Time
About Thrive
The mission of Thrive is to journey with women ministering overseas by providing spiritual resources, transformative experiences, and authentic one-on-one relationships to replenish them as they invest in Kingdom work.
As we enter a season of strategic renewal, we're asking important questions about how our programs can best serve the needs of today's women ministering overseas. We're looking for a leader who can help us steward what is working while shaping what comes next.
Position Summary
The Program Director provides strategic and operational leadership for Thrive's program portfolio, including Retreats & Virtual Gatherings, Alongside, and Connection.
This leader will partner closely with the CEO to translate vision into program strategy while ensuring every program is executed with excellence.
During the first year, this role will be heavily involved in leading Thrive's retreat ministry while learning the organization from the inside out. Over time, the role will increasingly focus on program leadership, innovation, evaluation, and team development.
This position may be based in our Colorado office, or performed remotely within the United States. Office-based employees work a hybrid schedule with two remote workdays each week. Remote candidates should expect to connect with the team in person approximately four times per year (typically 2-3 days per visit) for strategic planning, collaboration, and relationship building. This position also includes international travel as needed to lead our in-person retreat area.
What You'll Do
Lead Thrive's overall program portfolio and ensure programs align with our mission and strategic direction.
  • Provide leadership for annual retreats and virtual gathering(s).
  • Supervise and develop program coordinators and lead Thrive's volunteer engagement strategy.
  • Partner with the CEO to evaluate existing programs and develop new initiatives.
  • Use participant feedback, research, and organizational learning to continuously improve our programs.
  • Build systems and processes that enable excellent program delivery.
  • Participate in strategic planning and help shape Thrive's future program direction.

What Success Looks Like
During your first year you will:
  • Successfully lead three retreats and one virtual gathering.
  • Build strong relationships with program staff, volunteers, and key partners.
  • Successfully transition retreat leadership from our current coordinator.
  • Evaluate Thrive's current programs and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Present recommendations for the future of Thrive's program strategy.
  • Become the primary leader responsible for integrating Thrive's programs

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who combines strategic thinking with exceptional execution.
The ideal candidate:
  • Thinks strategically and executes effectively.
  • Can translate vision into practical action.
  • Builds teams and leads people with humility, maturity, and emotional intelligence.
  • Thrives in environments experiencing thoughtful change.
  • Is comfortable challenging ideas respectfully while building strong relationships.
  • Uses data, research, and participant feedback to guide decisions.
  • Enjoys building systems, developing people, and improving organizations.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience leading complex programs, events, or initiatives.
  • Strong project management and organizational leadership skills.
  • Experience leading staff and volunteers.
  • Demonstrated success navigating organizational change.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Embraces the mission of Thrive and agrees with our Statement of Faith

The Benefits
  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks of vacation plus sick leave and holidays
  • Ministry Paid Time Off: Thrive encourages our employees, along with their families, to occasionally serve in ministry outreach endeavors. (Up to two weeks)
  • Monthly Personal Retreat Days (PRDs): - one day per month to unplug and take the day with the Lord to refresh.

The Hiring Process
Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. We'll respond to applications as they arrive. Below is an outline of the steps in our hiring process.
  • Phase one: Receive candidate applications. Complete a brief questionnaire.
  • Phase two: Selected candidates will be asked to fill out a more in-depth Questionnaire and provide references.
  • Phase three: Selected candidates will have an initial Zoom interview with our hiring team. We strongly encourage you to bring any questions you have to ask our team. You're interviewing us as much as we're interviewing you. Multiple interviews might take place during this phase.
  • Phase four: In-person office visit and Meet & Greet with our staff. Final determination made.
