What is a virtual medical scribe?

A Virtual Medical Scribe is a professional who remotely assists healthcare providers by documenting patient encounters in real-time during medical appointments. They listen to conversations between the physician and patient, then accurately record medical histories, exam findings, and treatment plans into the electronic health record (EHR) system. They document real-time patient encounters, update electronic health records, and ensure accuracy in medical documentation. Effective communication and the ability to quickly adapt to each provider’s workflow are crucial, as scribes must capture relevant details without interrupting the flow of the visit. This collaboration allows providers to focus more on patient care while ensuring thorough and timely documentation.
