Job description

American Indian Health & Services (AIHS) is seeking a mission-driven Medical Director for our Pomona California location to lead high-quality, culturally responsive care for American Indian, Alaska Native, and underserved communities. The Medical Director will provide clinical leadership, support integrated primary care, and help expand access through both telehealth and in-person services. Candidates who are members of, or have demonstrated experience working with, American Indian and Alaska Native communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Medical Director oversees clinical services, supports medical providers and clinic staff, and helps ensure accessible, coordinated, and culturally grounded care in virtual and on-site settings.

Pay Range: Exempt $250,000 - $275,000 per year

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision for medical providers and clinic staff.
  • Deliver and support primary care through telehealth and in-person patient visits.
  • Promote quality, patient safety, documentation, peer review, and performance improvement.
  • Support integrated, team-based care across primary care, behavioral health, oral health, and other services.
  • Represent AIHS with partners, professional organizations, and community stakeholders.
Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification in a primary care specialty.
  • Current State of California medical license.
  • 3-5 yearsโ€™ experience in community health, integrated care, or underserved settings preferred.
  • Membership in, or demonstrated experience working with, American Indian and Alaska Native communities strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, patient-centered care.
