What is a virtual math teacher?

A Virtual Math Teacher is an educator who teaches math courses online rather than in a traditional classroom setting. They use various digital platforms to deliver lessons, assign homework, and communicate with students. Virtual Math Teachers may work for online schools, tutoring services, or as independent contractors, and often use video calls, interactive whiteboards, and educational software to support learning. The role requires strong math knowledge, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with technology.

To thrive as a Virtual Math Teacher, you need a solid understanding of math concepts, teaching credentials (such as state certification), and experience in curriculum development. Familiarity with online learning platforms, virtual whiteboards, and educational software like Zoom or Google Classroom is typically required. Job description

Job Type
Full-time
Description
The Drexel Way:
We don't just sell lumber; we Supply. Happiness. Drexel is Team Member-owned and community-driven. With six retail hubs and three manufacturing plants across Wisconsin, we've been a Top Workplace every year since 2011. Why? Because we hire for heart and train for skill. When you join Team Blue, you aren't just a team member - you're an owner.
The Mission:
As a Truss Designer, your primary objective is to act as a virtual builder, transforming architectural visions into structurally sound, precision-engineered truss systems before any materials hit the job site. You are responsible for interpreting complex drawings, calculating structural loads, and producing accurate manufacturing designs and field layouts for wall, roof, and floor systems. As the bridge between architectural plans, manufacturing teams, and field installers, you ensure that our commitment to structural integrity, builder satisfaction, and seamless execution is delivered flawlessly from design software to final job site assembly.
Defining the Role:
  • Plan Interpretation & Structural Design

Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings to produce detailed, accurate, and structurally sound individual designs and layouts for roof, floor, and wall systems.
  • Engineering Support & Load Analysis

Apply advanced math skills and an understanding of structural load transfer to provide technical and engineering support, ensuring designs comply with building codes and industry standards.
  • Manufacturing & Field Documentation

Prepare clear, precise drawings and production files for the manufacturing team and detailed field installation layouts for on-site crews.
  • Technical Problem Solving & Discrepancy Resolution

Identify and resolve architectural or engineering discrepancies early in the process, acting as a proactive virtual builder to prevent costly job site errors.
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication

Maintain direct, high-level communication with internal production teams, field installers, and customers-occasionally meeting directly with clients to review plans and answer technical questions.
  • Continuous Learning & Industry Adaptability

Stay current with evolving building codes, design software updates (such as MiTek and iStruct), and industry trends to maintain top-tier technical proficiency.
What Success Looks Like:
Performance is measured by your direct impact on design accuracy, project lead times, and manufacturing/field execution:
  • Design Accuracy & Plan Quality: Zero errors or preventable plan discrepancies reaching the manufacturing plant or field installers.
  • On-Time Project Completion: Consistently prioritizing projects effectively to meet tight drafting and production deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer & Internal Satisfaction: Delivering clear engineering guidance and responsive communication that builds trust with builders, dispatchers, and production teams.
The Drexel Advantage:
The Wealth-Builder (Ownership)
  • ESOP Shares: We don't just work here; we own the place. You'll earn a real stake in the company's success.
  • Profit Sharing: When Drexel wins, our team wins.
  • 401k: A solid foundation for your long-term retirement goals.

Health & Well-Being
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance to keep you and your family "weather-proof."
  • Fitness Reimbursements: Annual funds dedicated to your physical health and family activities.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP): Confidential support when life gets complex.

Life & Legacy
  • Immediate Paid Time Off: Start with Holiday and Vacation pay from day one.
  • Scholarship Program: We're invested in the next generation-educational support for the children of our team members.
  • Annual Charity Match: We'll double your impact on the causes you care about most.

The "Drexel" Lifestyle
  • Birthday PTO: A paid day off to celebrate you .
  • Product Discounts: Special pricing on the high-quality materials we sell.
  • Plus More: A constant stream of "fun little perks" that make the yard a great place to be.

Other possible titles that might need to be used:
  • The Essentials: this would be used for anything that is a mandatory skill needed for the job.
  • Balance In Action: for a unique schedule that you want to capture.
