Job description

Transportation Supervisor

Location: USA – Clarksville, TN – 870 Steel Stock Road and 681 International Blvd.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, schedule, and dispatch daily transportation routes, considering delivery timelines, vehicle capacity, and driver availability.
  • Monitor real‑time delivery progress using GPS and transportation management systems (TMS).
  • Address and resolve operational issues, including delays, breakdowns, and delivery exceptions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations (DOT, FMCSA).
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of drivers and transportation staff; conduct performance reviews and provide feedback.
  • Lead daily stand‑up meetings (in‑person or virtual) to communicate priorities and address concerns.
  • Manage tasks and team communication from both the office and remote locations; utilize virtual tools such as Teams, Slack, and Zoom.
  • Maintain accurate records of driver hours, vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and delivery metrics.
  • Prepare and analyze reports on key performance indicators, such as on‑time delivery rates, cost per mile, and route efficiency.
  • Assist with budget planning and cost‑control initiatives for the transportation department.
  • Promote a strong safety culture; coordinate vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules, and corrective actions for incidents.
  • Communicate with customers to provide updates and resolve service‑related issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments (warehouse, sales, customer service) to optimize logistics processes.
Qualifications
  • 3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Proven experience with a TMS and GPS tracking software.
  • Strong knowledge of DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Highly organized with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a hybrid work environment.
Working Conditions

This hybrid position requires a set schedule for in‑office and remote work, with occasional on‑call availability to address urgent operational issues.
