Priority Logistics information

What is priority logistics?

Priority Logistics refers to the management and coordination of shipments or goods that require expedited handling due to their urgent nature. This service ensures that critical items are transported quickly and efficiently, often using dedicated resources and specialized tracking to guarantee timely delivery. Companies rely on priority logistics for time-sensitive materials, such as medical supplies, perishable goods, or high-value products. The main goal is to minimize transit times and reduce the risk of delays, ensuring customer satisfaction and business continuity.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a priority logistics coordinator?

To excel as a Priority Logistics Coordinator, you need strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a background in supply chain management or logistics, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Proficiency with logistics software such as SAP, Oracle Transportation Management, or similar tracking and routing systems is typically required. Outstanding problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and the capacity to work under pressure are vital soft skills in this role. These skills are essential for ensuring timely delivery, efficient operations, and effective collaboration with clients and vendors in a fast-paced logistics environment.

How does a priority logistics professional typically interact with other departments to ensure timely deliveries?

Priority Logistics professionals work closely with teams across the organization, such as sales, inventory management, and customer service, to coordinate the movement of high-priority shipments. They often serve as the main point of contact for urgent orders, ensuring communication flows smoothly between internal stakeholders and external carriers. This collaborative approach helps preempt delays, resolve issues quickly, and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction. Regular meetings and real-time updates are common to keep everyone informed and aligned on delivery timelines.

Job description

Logistics Data & Systems Specialist

Location: Jackson, Tennessee — Onsite

Employment Type: Full-Time

Base Salary: Approximately $60,000

Bonus: None

Position Overview

American Bath Group is seeking a Logistics Data & Systems Specialist to build and strengthen the technical foundation supporting our Logistics organization.

This is a hands-on systems, data, and process-building role for someone who can take an ambiguous operational problem and turn it into a practical, scalable technical solution.

You will own how Logistics data is sourced, modeled, automated, and maintained — helping reduce manual work, improve data reliability, and create a foundation that supports future reporting, analytics, and automation.

This is a build-and-scale role, not a dashboard-only or maintenance-only position.

Location & Relocation

This position is onsite in Jackson, Tennessee.

Candidates should:

  • Currently live within reasonable commuting distance of Jackson;
  • Already be planning to relocate to the Jackson area; or
  • Be willing and able to relocate for this opportunity.

This position does not qualify for relocation assistance or a relocation incentive. Candidates requiring relocation must be prepared to relocate at their own expense.

Remote work is not available for this position.

What You Will Do

Build the Logistics Data Foundation

Map, connect, and improve data across systems and sources including:

  • Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • ERP systems
  • Fleet systems
  • Carrier data
  • Financial data
  • Operational data
  • Other internal and external sources

You will identify where critical data originates, how systems connect, where data-quality gaps exist, and how priority data should be structured for reliable use.

Build Data Solutions

Develop and maintain scalable technical solutions such as:

  • Data pipelines
  • Data models
  • System integrations
  • Power BI data products
  • Microsoft Fabric solutions
  • Automated workflows
  • Reusable integration patterns

The objective is not simply to produce another report. The goal is to create a reliable technical foundation that can support reporting, analytics, automation, and future business needs.

Reduce Manual Work

Identify recurring manual processes and help replace them with practical systems or automation.

Opportunities may include:

  • Logistics planning
  • Dispatch
  • Reporting
  • Data preparation
  • Diagramming
  • Administrative workflows
  • Other recurring operational processes

Validate Against Real Operations

Technical accuracy alone is not enough.

You will work with operational users and business stakeholders to ensure data, models, reports, integrations, and automation accurately reflect how the business actually operates.

This includes validating assumptions, identifying source-data issues, testing outputs, and correcting discrepancies.

Build Documentation and Controls

Create solutions that can be understood, maintained, and supported by others.

This may include:

  • Source mappings
  • Technical documentation
  • Data-quality controls
  • Validation procedures
  • Monitoring processes
  • Troubleshooting instructions
  • Recovery procedures
  • Support documentation

Own Priorities and Execution

You will manage assigned work through a visible intake and roadmap process by:

  • Clarifying requirements
  • Prioritizing requests
  • Breaking larger projects into manageable phases
  • Identifying dependencies
  • Managing deadlines
  • Communicating risks
  • Keeping stakeholders informed of progress

What Success Looks Like

Success in this position means:

  • Major logistics and business data sources are mapped and understood.
  • Priority data moves into reliable, reusable pipelines and models.
  • Data-quality and validation controls are established.
  • Meaningful manual work is reduced through automation.
  • Technical solutions are documented and supportable.
  • Projects remain visibly on-track or at-risk.
  • The organization becomes less dependent on individual people or manual workarounds.

Required Qualifications

Power BI

Hands-on Power BI experience is required.

Candidates should have personally built, modified, or maintained Power BI reports, dashboards, data models, or related solutions.

Experience limited primarily to viewing or consuming dashboards will not be sufficient.

Excel

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required.

Systems & Data Problem Solving

Candidates should be able to provide examples of personally solving ambiguous systems, data, or process problems.

Relevant experience may include:

  • Problem discovery
  • Requirements clarification
  • Source mapping
  • Data modeling
  • Integration
  • Solution design
  • Building
  • Testing
  • Validation
  • Implementation
  • User adoption
  • Documentation
  • Ongoing support

We are particularly interested in understanding what you personally designed, built, tested, or implemented.

Ownership & Follow-Through

Successful candidates should be comfortable:

  • Working through ambiguity
  • Managing competing priorities
  • Communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Identifying risks and dependencies
  • Validating solutions with operational users
  • Documenting their work
  • Following projects through implementation and support

Helpful Technical Experience

Experience with the following is helpful, but not all are required on day one:

  • Microsoft Fabric
  • SQL
  • Python
  • ETL / ELT
  • APIs
  • Notebooks
  • Lakehouse environments
  • Semantic models
  • Power Automate
  • TMS or Fleet Management Systems
  • Motive
  • ERP systems
  • CMS
  • SAP
  • Sage
  • Data lineage
  • Master data
  • Data governance

Logistics or freight experience is helpful but can be learned by someone with the right technical and problem-solving foundation.

Ideal Candidate

You may be a strong fit if you:

  • Enjoy building systems rather than simply maintaining them.
  • Can create structure around ambiguous problems.
  • Have personally built data, integration, systems, or automation solutions.
  • Are comfortable working across multiple systems and fragmented data.
  • Validate technical work against operational reality.
  • Look for root causes rather than preserving manual workarounds.
  • Balance technical capability with practical business needs.
  • Communicate well across technical and operational teams.
  • Take ownership of priorities and commitments.
  • Build solutions that others can understand and support.

Work Environment

This role operates in a complex, evolving environment with multiple business systems, fragmented data, manual workflows, competing priorities, and a significant improvement roadmap.

You should be comfortable entering situations where every requirement is not perfectly defined and be able to identify the right questions, validate assumptions, create structure, and move the work forward.

Experience Level

There is no predetermined minimum years-of-experience requirement for this position.

Demonstrated capability, personal ownership, technical problem-solving, and the ability to build practical solutions are more important than an arbitrary number of years.
