OSHA CERTIFIED TRAINING INSTRUCTOR - PART TIME
KENNEDY-KING COLLEGE

Kennedy-King College is seeking experienced and engaging OSHA Certified Training Instructors to deliver high-impact safety training courses as part of our Continuing Education division. This role focuses on teaching OSHA 10- and 30-hour courses to adult learners, with a strong preference for Spanish-speaking instructors. This position plays a critical role in advancing workforce development by equipping students with OSHA-recognized credentials that enhance employability and promote workplace safety across construction, manufacturing, and related industries.

In this role, you will work with a diverse student population across Chicago communities and contribute to a growing Continuing Education division committed to workforce equity, community engagement, and meaningful career advancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver OSHA 10- and 30-hour training courses using authorized OSHA curriculum
  • Provide engaging, interactive instruction, primarily in Spanish
  • Incorporate real-world examples to teach hazard recognition and prevention
  • Facilitate discussions, activities, and knowledge checks

Student Engagement & Support

  • Teach adult learners with diverse educational and literacy backgrounds
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Encourage participation and ensure comprehension of safety concepts

Compliance & Documentation

  • Administer assessments and ensure OSHA course completion requirements are met
  • Track attendance and instructional hours for compliance
  • Manage OSHA card processing and maintain accurate course records

Technology & Administration

  • Utilize Learning Management Systems (e.g., Blackboard, Canvas) as needed
  • Use Microsoft Office tools to support instruction and reporting
  • Deliver virtual instruction via Zoom or Teams (if required)

Program Contribution

  • Support workforce training initiatives and community impact efforts
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education staff and industry partners

Qualifications

  • OSHA Authorized Trainer certification (Construction and/or General Industry) - required
  • Minimum 5 years of industry or safety training experience
  • Proven ability to deliver OSHA training programs effectively
  • Bilingual Spanish/English with strong instructional delivery in Spanish preferred
  • Flexibility to teach evenings and/or weekends
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, workplace safety, and hazard recognition
  • Experience in adult education and workforce training
  • Excellent classroom management and facilitation skills
  • Ability to engage diverse and underserved populations
  • Proficiency with: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Learning Management Systems (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas)
  • Virtual platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)

Salary Range: $60 per hour
